Stuff like this has to twist the tail just a little and make you wonder what it was like and put some risque thoughts into your head.

I can't get over how COOL that photo is! Anyone know whose car/driver? Riverside was WAY WAY out in the sticks in those days.

Maybe this was an extreme case of "Win on Sunday - Sell on Monday"!

In the 50's and early 60's there were no garages at Riverside raceway. Alot of the teams used to rent garage space from tire stores, gas stations, and auto repair shops in town to do their haevy repairs & race prep. A friend of mine worked at a large garage on 14th st. where Roger Penske rented space on race weekends. He said Roger would come in and bark orders & yell at a couple of people and split. This picture is probably someone driving a car from one of the garages to the track

The photo's title says that it was Trintignant driving a Cooper. Dunno whose, but I could probably find out if you care.

That stretch of road is the (now) 60 freeway with Box Springs in the background. Most of the cars were garaged on 8th (now snobbier UniversityAve.) St. The City of Riverside issued special permits for the highly road illegal cars to be driven up 8th to the 60 and, I think, to Day St. We would park not too far from where that phot was taken and watch the mechanics who drove the cars put on some great racing. After the event our horrified city council vowed never to issue such permits again. But then to get on the Riverside city council in those days you had to be dead first.

I'm not certain but I think the car is a Cooper. I don't think Brabham was making his own cars at that time. It was also the last year of the three liter F1s.

Damn Mofuzz, I can't stand a hoarder. That's why the rest of us can't find a single intake. You've got them all hanging in your garage collecting dust instead of sucking air.

That lake cost me a starter on my Roadster, man it was deep.
P.S. Who know what those little salt molecules are up to as we speak.

    U.S. Nationals Indianapolis 1979.

I was there. As I remember it the dragster driven by Frank Rupert had the rear wing struts collapse and take the load off of the tires, then the engine rpm went balistic and blew-up causing the blower to separate .

It wasn't real nice to see. The cameraman worked for Opryland Productiions which was TNN.

As a side note you will see hay bales at the end of the guard rails, that's because a TF Bike hit there before killing a guy. I have forgot his first name but the last name was Rife (sp)
