COOL SHOPS in SO Cal?? Shop tours!!!

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by KIRK!, Feb 28, 2006.

  1. That's what I had in mind. Before/afters would be startling in some cases.

I'm aware of the factors that changed a bunch of small towns into "the hood" in a single generation. That's a part of the story too, isn't it? Worth recognizing and reflecting on but not fixating on. The area was the crucible of invention and innovation that flooded the world. Ultimately it isn't the place, it's the people and the ideas. But history leaves behind artifacts.

Jeezus! I'm not sure whats in this coffee I'm drinking here. Tom Wolfe must have pissed in it. Sorry for the palaver.

  2. I suppose I got off the track, but I'm not talking about magazines scheduling tours....I'm talking about Joe Blow rocking up and wanting to take a look around. If I came all the way from Oz and checked out a shop's goods, I certainly wouldn't expect to get the royal treatment. I'd be happy to stick to the display area, just like everyone else.

BTW, I've known an Australian magazine to turn up and change their minds, after putting the hard word on the shop owner for advertising, when a shop has shut down for the day (actually 2 separate days) to accomodate them.

I was not planning on a party this year, I always think about having one like 3 weeks before. Plus It is some much money and effort with food and stuff. It seems like I get a huge flow of people whether I have a party or not. I pretty much give tours all day friday to everyone anyways.

Anyone is welcome to come by on friday and looka round just don't distract my guys and talk their ear off, that gets expensive. I have to many cars in the shop right now to have room for a party. We currently have 12 projects in the shop. I have been lookin at movin to bigger shop, so maybe at the reunion we will have a party. If anyone wants to come by on friday my address is 2201 R st, bakersfield, 93301
