My buddy Paul Juarez runs this one on his little Empi type steel buggy. **** Landy intake, magneto, runs on alcohol, es muy groovy.
I used to pride myself on my VW powerplants back in the day...not anymore, that is an absolute thing of beauty.
No, it was homemade, but the Empi car is what they followed...closely. Wish I had a pic of the whole car.
I saw the thread ***le and told my girlfriend to get the popcorn popping... But seriously though, this thing is really cool, nice find.
I've got a 66Bug and have had about 7 other VW"S and have seen a **** Landy blown motor before but you can never get tired of seeing any blown vw motor i don't care who you are, that's just plain BAD***!
Nobody said it had to be a "big car" to be on the HAMB right? There's just something neat about a Bug.
i'm dreaming of an okr***a wedgemated crank w/ carrillo rods inside.... maybe some old school heads by fumio fukasa. yep, im an old school vw geek... i dig this motor. -scott noteboom
So speaking of bugs! I'm sure you guys have gone over this subject, but I'm still fairly new to the HAMB, but what do you guys think about the SoCAL look bugs??? I have a 59 vert that I was thinking about doing somthing with, but I was thinking a different spin, maybe build a frame for it and put a flathead in front where the trunk is. I don't know, maybe I'm just too weird!! My wife and kids seem to think so!!
Cal look bugs, yeah I like 'em. The older, the better. This was my garage in 1981. That blown motor is a nice piece of engineering.
I´m getting a "vintage speed" 36hp motor built for my `58 Beetle Kabriolett. Going to use a 74mm crank from a 1953 Porsche and dual 28mm Solex carbs. Tuning one of these old motors is kind of the VW equivalent of souping up a Banger motor. Expensive and won´t make a lot of power, but thats not the ******* point!! As it is now...
