I have about 3’ of a fine probe line for my vintage coolant gage. It’s a miracle if hadn’t been destroyed in the years since J purchased it. Now that it is temporarily connected to my flathead for an engine startup for the first time hopefully in a couple weeks, I’m looking at a way to cover and protect this line. Hoping for something that is vintage looking.
On my OT dune buggy, I added an oil pressure gauge on the dash. That required about 15 feet of plastic tubing routed through the interior. I put SS gravel guard (for brake lines) over the entire run. Looks nice and well protected.
That might work. I was thinking something along that line. Something looking a bit like a spring. Issue might be that the whole thing is hermetically sealed, and the actual sensing bulb is much bigger than the thin line connected to it.
Find a long spring with a close inner diameter, stretch it out and then wind it onto your tube. Or you can get some wire and a acme threaded rod and make your own.
Found this on-line. Will likely use something similar, and run something else inside it along with the coolant probe line.
