that's awesome and way to go for inspiring a young one like that:) That's so cool as well that he's only 10 and ready to start building and welding...super cool. I'll have to send him some goodies as well, but i hope it doesn't steer him away from being a rodder and into a skateboarder... he, he:)

I think it is great that so many are taking the time to respond to this kid.
I have a nephew who as Aspergers Syndrome and he has a short attention span, unless it's something he really likes!
I told dave this morning that I would like to become this kids pen pal, if he's up to it. Of course, we'll just have to send him hot rod stuff every opportunity!
    Have a great Friday

With the simple act of writing a letter, I'd be willing to bet you have made a major positive impact on this kids' life. Please be sure & let us know if you end up going to his school for "show & tell"...would love to hear about it!

    Hey Bobbleed,
Just like you said...never under estimate the power of the written word...Kudos to you pal...You and the Cheaters have a big heart and you can only imagine how huge of an impact you are going to make in this kids life by doing this great deed.
As a father of a child with special need I know how this act of compassion will affect them.
My son is 11 years old and is also addicted to Hot Rods, Customs and any thing having to do with cars. He has already asked me for a welder for Christmas. My son is confined to a wheel chair because of Muscular Dystrophy but it doesn't slow him down one bit. He recently wrote a letter to Chip Foose because he wanted to use his once in a life time wish from The Make-A-Wish Foundation to go meet Chip and see his studio and talk car art. Well guess what Chip answered back and to make a long story short. Chiop Foose and the Fine people at Unique Performance got together and made my son's wish come true and gave us a trip to Dallas where we met Chip and My son got to Shadow Chip the whole day and got to meet Carrol Shelby and also got to see their shop where they built THE ELEANOR from Gone in 60 Seconds "My son's favorite movie" and they took the bill my son didn't have to use his wish.
He had the time of his life. This kind deed did a great deal for my son. He hasn't stopped talking about it yet.

So What you and the Cheaters are doing for these kids is something am,azing that will affect them forever.

Good Job Guys and God Bless [IMG]

I know you're a big rockstar and all(!) but I think I know how you feel about helping out. I was called to go speak at a school to kids that needed a boost. I was really nervous about the whole thing at first but we ran way over on time and they all went away with a little encouragement and some art. I was literally high for the rest of the day, the kids were so into it and I let them know that I was pretty much in the same boat they are, couldn't believe how well it all went! I really felt like I made a difference. If any of y'all get a chance to do something like that, DO IT!

    Good on you Dude!

Texas Duece that is a wonderful thing. I have a brother who is seriously mentally challenged. He is 50 years old these days. I think knowing people with disabilities and seeing something of their lives can be a great thing to show us just how lucky we all are. I think for the most part it can also make us better people. Bob it was a dead certainty that your post would bring out the best in the HAMB community. Geoff aka Whodaky

First off....Bob, good on ya, man. You may think it's all no big thing (and that says a lot of good things about you), but I guarantee it will be a lot more than that to this young man, his family, and his friends.

And Gabe...that's just a cool as hell story. No matter what I sometimes think of his designs, I guarantee I'll be looking at Chip Foose with a new level of respect from now on. Thanks for sharing.

    Bob,

Thanks for posting the letter, that's just a real cool story.

The kid cut his bike in half and rewelded it? Sounds like he's learning enabled. I bet the honor roll kids arent buildin choppers. My kinda kid.
