I had these two back in the late 1970's. D.O.HAL midget engine on the left and a Twin Cam 16 valve Pop Green Five main Sprint Car motor. The Green is restored and on display in Bill Smiths Speedway Motors Museum in Lincoln Nebraska.

Sorry about the quality of this picture - it was emailed to me like this - but apparently this banger puts out 168bhp.

  6. This is a Morris engine that produces 170bhp that powers a Morris special. it was built by Geoff Russell almost 60 years ago & at 77 he still owns and races it at hill climbs & historic race meets. It also does the standing 1/4 mile in 13 seconds.

What would that Morris engine come from?
This is not the same Morris that produced the Morris Minor in the UK, is it?

[/ QUOTE ]Yeah, it could also be Morris Cowley or Oxford, there is mention of Lancia parts been used in the car, but I am unsure of what exactly [IMG]

Motor possibly came from something like this.

I've got that same picture and this is the car it runs in. Its an old 60's sprint car chassis with a fibreglass A body. This thing is as fast as the chevy crate engine powered sprint cars. Its owned by a guy called Pete Yakima(?).

The bangers filled a flash card, here's a couple from the ones I put up on our website.

not the coolest but a 4 popper in a rod is fairly uncommon these days.

2.3 injected Ford in my model A converted to point and carb.

I have a turbo T-bird that I am trying to figure out how to make work with a header from a Ford Ranger that I will be modifying to a lake pipe.

4 bangers are the new flathead V8!! cool stuff fellas.

my little bro just picked up a Mercruiser "Iron Duke" 4banger with a header, 4barrel intake and a CROWER 3/4 race cam. should make for a good time in his 29 model A modified roadster.

This is my model B with a Gemsa overhead conversion in my 27 roadster in 1984 the day before it broke the crank. The Gemsa head was a copy of the Moralzes(?) brothers sprint car head from east LA in 1946. It was very fast . I had it hooked to a dodge slant 6 auto trans with a Dan Indolia adaptor.

I am looking at buying another Tutor with this engine already done. Anybody interested in buying a complete Tutor for 3600?

  27. Can someone give me an appox. estimate of what it'd cost to build one of these little boogers w/ solid (but not exotic) speed parts? Basically, a total rebuild.

Any links to helpful sites w/ speed parts and info. will be appreciated too.

    Thanks

The two that keep on getting mentioned are Taylor Engine and H & H Antique Engine Building, both in CA.
Prices vary hugely depending on what spec you got to. It's not exactly cheap as anything other than a mild hop-up requires a fair amount of machine-shop time (counter-balancing and drilling the crank, fitting insert bearings, pressurising the oil system etc).
Try these links. I know folk that have engines built at both places and both are happy with the results.

That 100E is a Ford Consul engine, correct? Really pretty. Is that the one referred to as the Kent? And if memory serves, the Rochdale was a glassfibre kit/production sportscar.
