Am I seeing flywheel and pistons on the ground? The driver's reaction is something else too... Not the best day ever at the ol' races. Jim's pictures wins!
Cool rigs, both of you. but.. in my opinion, both would be much cooler with some type of at least "retro" styled wheel.
I have had Squirrel's picture as wallpaper on my computer for awhile. I always liked it and noticed the rear wheel is running over the oil pan. There is another still frame of the car a few feet farther down the track and the blower is tilted back into the windshield opening. I have pushed a few cranks out the bottom but nowhere near that exciting.
The driver's name was/is Gary Essmon. I don't know whatever happened to him but I'd bet his ears are still ringing.
Found a bunch of 'em on flea bay http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_fro...ot+rod.TRS0&_nkw=August+1965+hot+rod&_sacat=0
This one comes to mind. I was like 13 years old. Late 50's on Shippan Ave. in Stamford CT. Owner was Joe Bowdwin (Bogie) across from favorite diner Tony's. Staying out of the rain
