I bought a cooling components fan and cannot find the wiring diagram. It has a black, brown and gray wire. Anyone know what wire goes where?
I have one also but can't remember the setup on it. Just call Walker radiator and they will give you the info you need. 48 Poncho
the black wire is for ground the other two can be tied together for high speed. You will need a relay kit to run the fan they draw alot of current. I can get you the number I am putting one on a 34 chevy tomorrow. Hope this helps RED
This is how I hooked up mine. I also bought a 30 amp fan relay kit from rebel wire and burned it up in a couple of weeks. Put a new Bosch 50 relay in next and noticed it was a little warm to the touch so I measured the current draw on the fan thinking something was wrong with it. The fan motor on start up was pulling 72 amps (wow) and 23 I think after it was running. I emailed the manufacturer and he said yep thats what it draws and they sell a 70 amp relay kit, so I now have that one but its not installed yet. Never would have dreamed a small fan motor would draw that kind of current.
Some of these high power electric fans have some serious amperage draw so its a good idea to check your alternator output - especially at low speed idle, which is where most one wire alternators fall down and where the fan is most likely to kick in....
Walker no longer owns Cooling Components per the latest StreetScene magazine. Threw it out otherwise I'd give you the new phone number.
Sorry! My mistake then. I understood it to be a "spin off" company that Walker had a hand in. I had a problem with mounting mine and called Walker back in September. The guy answered all my questions and never let on that it belonged to someone else. 48 Poncho
