cooling

any of you used any of the junk thats claims to drop the temp of your raditator 20 to 30 degrees? does it work?

 

I had a couple of dirt circle-track customers that were repeat buyers. They claimed it made a difference. They bought Pro Blend 40 Below and Red Line WaterWetter. I think the idea is that it reduces the water/coolant's surface tension, allowing it to better "contact" the surface to transfer more heat, both absorbing and releasing. Chemists....fell free to correct me if I'm wrong.

 

I have had drops of about 20 degrees with the redline water wetter. If your too hot its worth it

 

my motor runs cool at night but during those 95 degree days it gets hot when you run it hard. is this the time it helps?

 

I used the 40 Below and it did not do anything. The Redline water wetter seems to make a big difference and I do use it.

 

I used water wetter in my road-race car and it dropped temps around 10 degrees.....This is under extreme conditions.......

 

I've used water wetter for ~ 12 years. It's not a subs***ute for a good cooling system, but it does postpone temperature rises while I'm idling in stop & go traffic.

 

I use a product called Purple Ice. It works pretty well for me. It's avialable at Napa.

 

40 below does NOTHING !!! try DISTILLED water and 2 bottles of water wetter ( i like Purple Ice the best) ..... This mix WILL show an improvement ....ANYTHING else WON'T !! Check timing on the engine...I find this to be the MOST common cause of over heating--ESPECIALLY at idle .... you should have 25 degrees advance with dist. vacuum can hooked to MANIFOLD (NOT PORTED) vacuum .......

None of these products will cure;
a too-small radiator for the engine's heat/energy output,
poor air circulation through the radiator,
poor circulation due to rust/crud buildup in the radiator or engine or an efficient pump,
retarded or too advanced timing for common driving conditions,
lack of the thermostat designed for the system,
or wrong air/fuel mixture.
