It can...it can...and we're looking forward to seeing you do it. I never have a problem...call me an expert in the field if you wish
When I first read this post I though you were trying to say you were putting the Hemi in the 50 Olds. "Pre-war Willys rides up like a cutter through ice" Hot Rod 1979
you must be a Hotrod junkie. Well, It's my garage against the world. How can you not like that movie? Don't you think the two cars together will make a nice display? Should we put together a painted up Cutlass, too? Man that car was***** ugly.
you totally got me with that one I didn't catch my spelling error, nor did I get your drift! Don't take me too serious, either. Just joshing about the extreme loyalty all you Mopar lovers have. Must really bother you guys to see a Greatly Made part attached to one of your beloveds! And a died in the wool Mopar shop built the TH400 for me!
I am sure the hemi will get you converted to Mopars anyway. Love the car, love to see it run! To each his own transmission . . .
www.youtube.com/watch?v=t7_i3ejdAc0 click on this link, watch to the end. You will see my 50 Olds run the primer gray Willys. That is the motivation for this build
Very cool video! Who won the race between the Olds and the Willys??? Sure would be neat to see that lineup in person next summer.
we are making progress. on target for next June debute. frame is all boxed, firewall is moved back ten inches, front cross member is flipped, engine/trans are mounted. next up will be the body mounts followed by the cage. long ways to go, but moving right along
The elephant is in, trans as well. We moved the firewall back 10" to gain weight transfer. Note the Quick Fuel carbs on top of the tunnel ram. Parallel mount and linkage by the engine builder, Kilpatrick of Waukesha, WI. Next up is to build the cage for safety, strength and mounting of the body. After that, the Olds rear end and the chrome straight axle. FUN
I don't see an issue with 750HP on the street - plenty of guys go way past that. It is probably more of an issue with all the other 'crap' you have to have on it to pass vehicle inspection. Some states are a real PITA when it comes to inspections and every last damn detail. Thankfully I live in Ohio - where they probably won't ever even see the car . . . let alone pay too much attention to it. Keep us posted . . . cool*****!
Geez Bob....I figured one nosebleed car in the garage was enough, but apparently not for you You like speed and altitude so much....you shoulda got a pilot's license
Can't wait to see what kind of words are used to describe it when it's finished. I'll start................... AWESOME!!!!!! Frank
yup, the Orange Olds (note color choice, here) was in Madison. Rob Kinnan of Hot Rod Mag wanted some pics, so I joined up with the group so he could shoot it. Got a little pic of it in November issue, page 50. just can't get enough of it Mike! Bad part is, the build cost can never be recouped and I need to sell some once in a while to fund the next ones. But the fun we have!
progress continues: custom 426 hemi headers were built. Just a secret...we used BBC fenderwell headers, nipped the flanges, trimmed to fit and welded to Hemi flanges. Less than $500 invested versus $1500+ for custom built headers. Body mounts are fabbed, front axle and suspension fitted, etc. We put together our list and will order up pretty much everything needed to complete construction. Lots of $$$, but not as bad as you might guess. Speedway and Summit have what we need.
parts orders came to around $2000. Not bad. All I need is a set of seats. PM me if you have suggestions or know of something appropriate.
