Hello. Need to see if anyone here knows what the correct block and valve cover paint colors were for a 1959 Mercury 312 Y block. When I pulled the motor it had a slight amount of blue on the back of one head. The valve covers and air cleaner are also blue. About the shade of a Ford Blue. I've had one guy tell me that this engine is supposed to be yellow with red covers, but I don't think that is right for the year.

Any help would be much appreciated!

Thanks. I could well be wrong, but I thought the yellow/red combo was for 57 or so Ford's. Hope someone on hear knows, or has a reference book that would say for sure.

look up "engine paint" in any reference manual or in the Hemmings Motor News "miscellaneous for sale"...quite often the vendors will enumerate the years/colors which could give you a hint.
