Will a corvair box work mounted on the frame like a vega box would? Cross steer style? Are they too light duty? I have a couple of the aluminum corvair boxes I can use if one will work on my 32 frame...Thanks.....Mike

They are cross steer from the factory. But they are considered too light for much of anything other than a T. I have seen them used on drag cars, but I don't think I would use one on a street driven '32.

Thanks, that's pretty much what I was thinking.

Depending on your front end set-up, you could use an early Mustang...

I agree that this might be kind of light duty for street use. I've used the Corvair unit in my old drag car, but only because it was light and a better idea in the mid 60's. Heck, it was absolutely high tech back then. I remember some guys used to reverse the sector shaft to make it work more like a normal steering system. I bet you would be more satisfied in the long run with a rack and pinion system.

On another note after all this BS, would you be interested in selling you Corvair units? I have one on the shelf, just in case - and, you never break what you have a spare (ot two) of ;)

Best of luck with your project.

I just reversed one last weekend to use on my T. A buddy of mine has used one on his big block T bucket for years without any problems. If you ever reverse one make sure you get the hole centered. It's a pain to get the gears meshed properly also. I had grease up to my elbows trying to get it back together.
