It is listed as a 59 that ran in D/A along with several other Vettes. Lasner seems to ring a bell for whatever reason. Doug not sure what a 302/327 is but in altered it was not a main concern I suppose. Jim D, I would think a 302/327 would have been a 327 de-stroked to a 3" 283 crank. The 301, AKA 302, was actually a 301.6 inches. Hence, the engine having two cubic inch names. The 302 would be current CI and 327 what the engine started from. For a while I raced a 389/327 . A 4.0625 bore and a 3.750 stroke. This when 327's were the largest engines you could buy. The 3.750 crank was made from offset welding and grinding the 327 crank. In my opinion, the 302 is a better engine, more HP and higher revs. BTW, your book is a great read, Jim (Vetrod62)
Thanks for the compliment on the book Jim. You are probably correct on the 302/327. I actually like both engines. I had a 1968 Z-28 back in 69-72-lots of fun and it did rev pretty high. Guys used to tell me (and I sometimes hear it today) that they were dogs since you had to rev them pretty high to make your mark on the street, which I found to be nonsense then and makes me chuckle today. My 327/365 in my black 62 revs pretty good though and it still makes me smile (probably as much as the Z did back in the day).
