  3. How about a "flocked" paint job for that velvety touch

Caught this guy and his hot-rod Vette a few years ago at "Back to the Fifties". Got the world by the tail!

Totally digging this hotrodded 'Vette I ran across several years ago at a Minnesota show.
The Bloomington Gold guys would've had a field day with it. The thing was absolutely dripping with that "beater/driver" high-mileage vibe: vintage custom paint with scars, road rash, bugs on the license plate, no hood or trunk propped open, no concours body panel fit with microscopic gaps that you can't see from behind the wheel anyway! And it was parked WAY out in the field, far from the main show line-up with nobody around and no paper car show I-D sign in the windshield. I went back later, a couple times, hoping to catch the owner and hear the story but the car was gone. Vanished. Never saw it leave the show grounds and haven't seen it since. But I hope it's still out there somewhere, prowling, strutting its road-proven stuff to all those stocker queen Corvettes. ;):D

Whoa Terry, that green '58 is killer! Hopefully I run across it in person someday.

  9. That's interesting. I had a custom bicycle I built in about 69 or 70, flocked by Larry Dunnimac (spelling) a guy in the neighborhood that built way crazy show cars. I was about 10 or 12. I had the frame flocked in bright Navy blue, everything else was chrome. Man I loved that bike. Now here's the weird thing. I was told that the part to be flocked had to be metal, and electricity put to it, or the flock wouldn't stand up. A Corvette is not metal. That's a head scratcher. But come to think of it, I saw a Bat Mobile that was flocked, it definitely wasn't all metal.

Me too - I'd love to get the lowdown on it from the owner. I bet there's a great story there.

Back in the '70's when flocking was a thing I knew of a nice factory automatic and air coupe a local wanted to turn into a custom. Tilt front end with big flairs and a fully flocked interior. It all went out of style and a divorce turned a good car into a parts car.

That was pretty common back in the '60's to section the front. Can't say I like it either but it's traditional.

  18. I thought it could possibly be an aftermarket front or something
