Do you have any pictures of this one? I can't find any history except that it ran out of Columbus, OH.

I have some pics somewhere of my older brother when he crewed for Big Ed Cantrell down in Florida and then Sunoco early on. Road race pics of course not drag but still
pretty neat. Will try to get them scanned and put up here

Most of the photos on my computer I have seen on the HAMB. If I had a name on the car or some look as to how it ran way back when, I may be able to come up with something. Any names or particular look of the car that you know of?

Not a whole lot of Sting Ray convertibles that I can think of off hand (other than Astoria Chas we recently discussed and a few others). By the time the Sting Rays were competitive the straight axles were a bit on the decline so it may be harder to track your car. I like your car though and have followed your build, hopefully you will dig up more history.-Jim

It was candy green at one time, ran a hard top and may have been named the Inferno. I'm sure someone knows this car but I haven't had much luck finding them. Thanks

I must be getting old. Some how I forgot this video posted by fellow HAMB member Duntov-97 and racer in our North Jersey Outlaw series for old school solid axle vettes, back in 2008. Very cool and has some of our current racers in it. Enjoy. He has two other videos also.

Hutch, I have heard people claim that Vicious Vette morphed into Mr. Pickett. That may be the case but I may be easier to convince if the dog leg on Mr. Pickett was not so different from Vicious Vette. I cannot imagine anyone repairing the dogleg when making the transition-no real benefit IMHO. Additionally the real problem with running slicks on these old Vettes are the dog legs. If you run anything larger than 29" you pretty much have to cut into the doglegs, even 28" with any type of wheel hop and you may have problems. It appears that Mr Pickett moved the axle back (look at the position of the two bumpers). Also the front bumper channels are still stock on Mr Pickett. Are you aware of what ever happened to Vicious Vette?-Jim

  20. If you can watch that video and still prefer a restored stocker, check your pulse. Awesome.

Hi: This was a Fresno CA car. Evans elecrtic had helped sponsor it. evans is still in business today. Also ran at the home track. Raisin city drag strip that later was renamed Fresno Dragways. one of the previous owners had moved it up to the san francisco bay area and I believe it changed hands again and was taken out of state.

Yes, those are two of my favorite videos. The first one is special because Butch(the green61) had won the three prior title races because of breakage in my drive train . I finally solved those problems and he has never beat me since. Plus an .010 light with wheels up in first and second gears. For those who do not know, these are our street cars and our rules do not allow race car mods.

The second video, what can I say?? With more snow today, I wish it was warmer and I could make a few passes on the interstate. Look forward to a 10 second pass this year on video. No major mods, just tweeking.

Jim...I'll ask Dale Pulde if he knows what happened to "Vicious Vette".

Speaking of Corvette rods, does anyone sell a topless corvette body that would fit over an altered chassis? This would be center steer, not a roadster. Sort of like the Mike Mitchell car. And also, C-3 corvette----68-82. Newer generations are ok too.

Or like this (thanks for posting btw):
