love it. BEST DEAL OUT THERE... I even ponied up a membership, just to buy it. I also bought racking while I was there too. Serious industrial type stuff.

  7. Craftsman is made by Waterloo. They have a plant here in Sedalia. I went for a job interview there yesterday. The front lobby was full of Craftsman stuff. I decided I didn't need to work there at this point.

  8. I have one from Sam's Club and I like it alot. Gave my old Craftsman boxes to a kid starting out in the hobby.

There was a plant in Pocahontis, Arkansas that made tool boxes for Craftsman and other private labels. They closed recently. Cited off shore competition. A lot of my aquaintances bought their stuff at scratch and dent sales.

  11. The guy that interviewed me at Waterloo, came up here from Pocahontis, Arkansas. He worked there for 34 years. They moved that operation to Mexcio.

Occasionally, you find a wider box at Cosco (with two of the wide drawer sections instead of of a wide one and a narrow one) for about 100 bucks (might be 150 ) more than the one more commonly found. You can't have too much toolbox space.
Having outgrown my existing boxes (a pair of SnapOn 557s, the first one bought with it's rollcab in 1973 so I've had it a while), I need more boxes but invariably find myself buying more tools instead.

It's from over there why would you even consider buying it? Import crap, save your money and buy car parts.

  14. from personal experience if your going to get a tall box make sure your floor is level, or you have the wheel locks on- was under a car and toolbox rolled out of the shed and into the dirt fell over and tore all of the draws out, now ive just got two big top boxes on a lwo trolley and it works really well.

Is that louvered license plate your furnace vent?

  20. I looked around and ended up at Defense Reutilization Management Organization (DRMO, where the Federal Govenment sells their surplus) and bought three Stanley Vidmar Cabinets. They ended up costing me about $125 US each plus a few bucks for paint. They are 59" tall and 30wx30d with ball bearing guides. We use them at work and each drawer will hold a couple of hundred pounds easily. They also have safety locks on the drawers so more than one drawer won't open.

Anyone else reminded of a Primus song while reading this thread?

... and you got yourself a Costco socket set, and the boat in the garage, and what's up with the boat? Ya'know, I dunno, maybe your team lost, or your girlfriend used to be a guy, I dunno ...

  22. I went by Sam's Club today. In addition to the Chinese stainless steel boxes they had a smaller black enamel set with ball bearing sliders. Looked pretty good. $299. Cheaper than a basic set of Craftsman chests with out the ball bearing sliders. Made in Vietnam.

Or... You can go onto Ebay and buy a Snap on box for the same money from someone who just 'has' to have the latest box because thats what the Snap On man told him...

Got my top box that way. It could not have been more than 6 months old and is perfect. Best bit is it cost me £40 and has a life time gaurentee....
