Does anyone have any info and pics of using Cotton Braided sparkplug wires like the ones made by www.riwire.com ? I am thinking of getting some of this wire and making my own so that I can make them the length I want so that I can keep it neat under the hood and I like they way they look also especially the black with yellow tracer wire. Is this wire a good type of wire to use or will it burn easy or desintegrate from being around oil and gas? thanks for any info and suggestions.
That wire is for antique reproduction wires not for a performance high voltage ignition system,it would be a bad choice. If you want cut to fit wires you can get them from Summit about $40.
Yeah thats what i thought, I just like the way they look...too bad they dont make some out of Nylon or something that they could make heat resistant.
You'll find that the wiring will work for a bit and then start to discharge through the side of the wiring to grounded components along it's path from the distributor cap to the spark plugs or to one another causing misfires and stumbling with high output coils. Been there, tried it, great for looks bad for driving. You might look for a covering to use with modern wiring and still get the look.
I bought the universal Pertronix set along with with the electronic ignition for my flathead, and cut them to length myself. Very nice quality and has the perfect stock look. Just my $.02.
