Just had my coupe striped I told him to just do what he thought would be good but I wanted to keep it simple and Cl***y then I left when I got back this is what I got
This is not a knock on the striper. He's done my stuff in the past and did great and I'll use him again I just aint feelin the stripes down the belt line and around the tail lights. I do love the deck lid though so I would like some educated opinions on the belt line stripes and tail lights the whole build is based on being as period correct as I could do simple and cl***y so what do ya think keep the belt line stripes or remove them and the tailights accents I know Im the one that has to like it in the end but I do value some other in put on this thanks in advance Mike

I'd say you got what you asked for. Simple and Cl***y. I don't particularly care for it, but it's also not my car. So it shouldn't matter what I think anyways.

Nice coupe. I like the deck lid stripes and the ones around the tail lights, I even like the white stripe going along the body. I'm not convinced that the red one going along the body needs to be there, but it doesn't look terrbile either.

I think it looks period and restrained. Is the grill shell done too?

"Period correct" ? What time period ?

Pretty sure Red and White 1-Shot was available in the '50s and 60s.
The style and workmanship looks very professional, and appropriate.

But then, if you don't like it ....

I like it. I might have picked more subtle colors than white and red (it has to much contrast for me) but overall it looks like he did a good job.

I like all of them, and the Red, White & Blue is always a nice combo.
Makes a nice flag too!
Needs the same stripes on the wheel centers between the cap and the rim and it'd tie it all together.
Needs the license moved up level and between the tail lights too.
Looks like an after thought hanging down where it is.
Use a Lucas style license lamp on it too.

the rear is as good as it gets, and the sides are pretty cool as well.

there is nothing wrong with the belt stripe, but if you dont like it, it will wipe off real easy.

I think it looks great Mike...just be glad you didn't end up with Process Blue or some crazy color like that...personally I would have used black and white, but white and red looks just fine...may I ask who did the 'stripes?

The lines look good. It fits the car well. I personally would have steered away from the red and white and more towards a single color (gold or tan) but that doesnt mean anything. It definitely completes the car and looks well done.

It works with the blue and boy howdy do I ever like that blue on that car. I would have probably wanted a less pronounced color but I like striping that accents and doesn't dominate the total picture.
I'd second raising the plate up between the lights and having the wheels striped.

I think that when the car gets out and about folks are going to really like the stripes though.

Keep it all! Just the thought of the talent it requires to pull a long straight line like that makes me want a closer look, I'm really digging it all!

In my opinion he did just as you asked. You did good by not leaning over him while he worked. How much does something like that cost, if you don't mind me asking. If you do just tell me to get bent. I won't take it personal.....:)
Nice looking hot rod you have there. Josh

I like the stripes i think the only thing that would make them better is stripe the wheels to match the belt stripes i think it would tie everything together

the stripes on the side look great......not feeling the stripes around the tailights though. needs straight lines between the taillights with a small "piece" in the middle under the handle. just my 0.02

Yes the grill shell is similar to the deck lid

    Our secret is out

I know I wouldnt want someone looking over me trying to work too. In the past I just told him do what you think looks good here and here and walk away. It cost 2 and some change, I think he's very good he did a killer job for me in the past too and I'll use him again, I just wasnt expecting belt line stripes and Im still not sure about them. I dont hate them Im just not really feeling them either I agree maybe wheel stripes would tie it all together and the Plate mount is temporary until I find something right to use on the rear panel im not putting any holes in there Im pretty sure the tailight accents are coming off tonite I just dont think it needs them

Now if I do decide to take them off whats the best way and does it matter if I leave them on longer to decide? Reducer ? the body paint is BC/CC

Thanks for the input so far please keep them coming

  30. We all should have our own flavor. That's what makes hot rodders who they are, the real ones are not like everyone else.

I met a guy who striped in the 40's thru the 60's when it was a big thing like now. He told me there really is no such thing as period correct when it comes to artists that don't follow the herd. It's more about what they want to do. In 30+ years of striping I've been through about as much period correctness as I can take. I'd just say do whatever the hell you want to do and quit worrying about what others think.

Everyone on here is straight-up when it comes to their opinions about what they like or not, and that is why we hang with it.

I agree with everyone, that car is righto.
