Could this intake be repaired?

Bought it from a guy on eBay...as if that doesn't say enough right there. His ad said to "Bid with Confidence!" lol

Anyways, finally got everything put together and filling it up with water. Noticed a leak and a small crack where the coolant temp sensor fitting goes. I tried to first patch it with some JB Weld but as I went to cover the crack, my damn finger pushes through the intake! SOB!!

So am I out of luck here or can this be welded up and made to work?

you can fix it if you got the skills. A SBC intake is a dime a dozen though. You may be money ahead if yo dont have the equipment/tim to fix it right. Nothing like a warped manifold filling your motor with coolant.

It's a big block, you can see the extra bolt in the pic.

    Ya got a TIG welder?
Didn't think so... If ya did you would have patched it already.

I JB WELDed mine about three years ago and it hasn't leaked again, yet.
I coated the inside of the entire water passage because it was all going away from electrolysis. look inside the thermostat hole with a dentist mirror and see how bad it is before bothering.
Mine wasn't a punched out hole like that, it was just "seeping".
I coated the back of the manifold too where it blocks off the rear water passages in the heads.
If you cant weld a patch on it your self (paying for it would cost as much as another used manifold)Just gob that area full and see if it holds, and move the temp sender to a head or somewhere else.

Be sure and bad mouth the guy on Epay!

Ya, it's a BBC dual quad intake.

I don't have the tools or the skills to fix it myself though. Don't suppose someone could point me in the right direction for a reputable welder around Dallas/Ft Worth?

I feel your pain. Bought an Edelbrock Performer for my 400M from one of those Ebay "confidence" men. When it arrived there was a crack about 6 inches long under the plenum. Someone had tried to "fix" it, but appeared to have made it worse. Seller said he would take it back and refund my bucks, but I had to pay shipping...yeah, right. Cost more than 45 bucks to ship it, so it is now about 3 cases of Bud cans. No more Ebay intakes for me!
