I work in a printshop so I've seen a good number of copiers from the inside, but I'm not a tech-guy for these machines. I mainly use them to print stuff with.

  3. I'm diggin' it.

It's also cool to use neat cast off aluminum parts. Old Computer hard drives have very nice machine parts on them too.

That really is looking good and just goes to show what a change can be made with not a whole bunch of money. The copier parts are genius.

When I was a kid my Dad bought a brand new 57 Desoto Sportsman. I always have had a thing for the mid 50's Desotos and Chryslers. I just love the fins and tail lights. They were the epitome of the 50's look for me. Those cars are long gone here in Michigan road salt ate them.

Seeing your car brought back some cool memories! Thanks!

Reverse the stagger and add one bullet to each row.

    Upper bullets (6 total).
    Lower bullets (5 total),

Total: 11 bullets = full grille. Nice!

Mo is on the money ... with your backing plate idea ...:)

Those backing plates give a more finished (possibly original) appearance .

The 80's look was from the colored bumper. Once the chrome bumper went on it was perfect. I'm not a big fan of the bullets though. To each his own.... Its a beautiful Chrysler however. Love those Exner cars!

  20. Grilles are a funny thing...you stress over what to do, but in the end you jump in and if at first you don't like it you try again. a good custom grille is the make or break of an otherwise cool car and you nailed it.
I had the same dilemma with this beast.... i wanted this all along but wasn't too sure how it would pan out in the harsh light of day......luckily..I think I may have also nailed it.:D

Got any longshots of the beast? profile maybe?

Tube grilles are fine if that's the look you want. It kinda says street rod billet to me ...not that that is bad...just not for me, or the op I'm thinkin.
Luckily a grille treatment is one of the best ways to change the character of a car. That, and wheels.
Personally I wanted drawer pulls in my grille (A) cos I reckon they look great and (B) I read some stories on this forum about guys that risked the wrath of mom by stealing all the drawer pulls in the house to put in their grilles.....it's a brave guy that does that!

It's truly amazing what a good wheel/tire combo and a few pieces of chrome can do for the look of a car that was once so 80's!

Putting on a chrome bumper improved it 1000% IMHO (God I hate painted bumpers). The look you ended up with is great.

    Haha, someone pulled their post....

  27. Now that you have the wheels and grill taken care of , some nice ribbon scallops would make the car look killer, use a nice clean white and maybe some outline striping with a very subtle mauve (light purple,ha,ha...) to clean this up nicely.

I like it a lot. Now that bumper rechromed would seal the deal, but I know that will cost plenty.

I think if you painted the lower bumper body color that would look really good, kinda like a rolled pan.

The bumper and wheels look great. I could go either way on the grille, but the bullets do say "custom" more than the blank grille. The hood lip trim makes a big difference too, extending into the fenders.

For a used front bumper, that one is actually pretty damn nice.
