a few of the cylinders were blowing oil,

like seven or eight of them..

looks like maybe just a simple freshening up, hone, rings, bearings and stem seals if I'm lucky.

unless I do something stupid like go out and buy a stroker kit [IMG]

    flamedabone,

I can't seem to leave anything alone, I had a great working tunnel ram setup on some worked over oval port heads, but it looked just plain wrong,

so I pull all that off and put the seriously massaged aluminum rectangles on it with the Man-A-Fre setup.

fucker ran like a*****d ape, but it looked kinda ho-hum.

so I put the cross ram setup on it, but lost the intake gasket seal and dumped a couple quarts of water in the crank case, unfortunately I didn't catch it untill it was too late.

she was blowing a big nasty blue cloud when I started it up.. [IMG]

so now I get to go through it all over again [IMG]

well actually Racefab will do the work, I'll just try not to make things worse [IMG]

Oh well Paul, that's what happens when you have a heavy lead foot.
Judd, you're making progress, looking good.
I stepped on a rusty nail at 8:30 a.m, are my tetanus shots up to date?
Just got done cleaning the back 40 after a kick**** party for my dear friends Lisa and Dave getting married.
I'm still nursing my welding burn, and boy does it hurt after playing a gig Friday night. Gotta play next Friday too.
I went to see my daughter's final performance for band, she's not reupping for band next year. I'm kinda sad because I think musical training's something that every kid should have, but I'm not gonna force anything down my precious child's throat.
Car wise I got nothing done. I did drive the '34 quite a bit and I'm having electrical problems, the temp and amp guage are acting up, I think I have a bad ground somewhere. The radiator's cold but I'm registering 180 degrees.

    Problems, always stinking problems.

My wife and I dug a 26 Dodge out of a cattle pen. It's pretty rusty but I see a shortened tub or a Pick-up cab out of it. The farmer who is long dead, (neighbors of ours growing up) had actually poured a concrete floor and used it for a chicken coop at one time! I don't immagine it worked well as a "coop" as anyone with half a brain and one eye can see it's a sedan. [IMG] BIG kudos to my lovely wife for all the help, Oh and guys, don't call your wife stout. They don't like that.

Paul, Did the water in the oil do any damage to the bottom end? How did the bearings and crank look? Here's hoping you (Racefab) can save the crank w/o a regrind. The whole deal*****s cuz I was digging the progress on the modified. Keep us informed.

I'm confused; What's the hone-like pattern in the cylinder? I see some ridge and also see some vertical scoring, from dirty oil probably.

How big is the motor? Maybe just bore it enough over to clean it up, service the heads, and nail it all back together, scrupulously clean using a good rebuild kit from some company like PAW.

I had great plans to goto the farm and drag home my T tourings and put them in the garage so I can start playing with my 'new' welder. I also had some free time to start tearing this apart for parts for my 57, BUUUT, since it was a long weekend, naturally, it snowed on Friday, I had my baby girl's 2nd birthday yesterday, it rained all day today, and only 100% chance of rain tomorrow. Oh well, maybe next weekend.

    fab32 and av8,

the cross hatch in the cylinders is from the rebuild, the verticle lines are probably from the water in the oil episode,, ring failure,, oil blowing,,

the motor is near fresh, and built. I had it done last year by a good speed shop.

I just pulled all the caps, the bearings have almost no wear, both rod and main.

but I can just feel some drag on the journals with my fingernail.

the rear main is the worst but I'm hoping a polish and fresh bearings will take care of the bottom end.

    Paul

LOL! As much as it's costing me I may have to start eating it. This started as a paint job and seems to have become a frame on restore.

Went and saw a display of art from the Vatican with my dad... He rode in the Valiant for the first time.

They had this letter from China to the Pope... all along the border were these really cool dragons - all in red ink. Would have made kick**** flash.

Paul, seeing your water damage makes me worry about my engine work, tried my best to get all the coolant sopped up from under the valley pan during my recent intake swap. Will find out soon when it fires back up.
Been waiting on parts, and for some stupid forgotten reason I'd originally thought this would be a good time to paint-strip the dash and doors. 'Til I found out how damn long it would take (I'll have an update post soon).
Judd, seeing your work gives me hope, I was going to take the doors off mine, but friends who'd done that before warned me against it, because of later re-mounting it. But am thinking about it again.
Those are some incredibly detailed shots, Paul- do you still have the tunnel ram, or are you thinking of sticking with the cross-ram?
