Klaz....just for friends??? Everybody is my friends. I guess that's one of my downfalls. I'm not a good typer and don't reply to everything. You have the same ideas I do and I agree with you. I should have replied that you were right on the money with the cabrio. Raked winshield, 37 grill, sitting low...maybe washington blue...what do think?

I know it would be hard to put that small body line on top like the original. I was thinking of taking the easy way out and making the top round. Plus I would like it better that way. Better flow like a 35 roadster.

Did you do this conversion? Give me some tips.

    Clark,
Have you considered selling just the 5win. body and getting a Brookville roadster body? I talked to a guy here in Huntington Beach who put Rudy's body together ( the one sold to Gibbons) for abot 11K. That way you could keep your ch***is and just change bodies.

The body is made for the ch***is. The back has a kick up and the steering is in the cowl.

I was offered crazy money for the car, so keeping it together is the best plan.

Clark. Bite the bullet and just go buy what you want. You ain't gettin no younger. To hell with chopping and hacking to make something that isn't quite what you want. This is the best advice an internet friend can offer. :D And you know I'm right. You already did that with your coupe.

I'm still glad you didn't chop the 5-window. That thing is so *****in.

Wish I had a 32 5/w so I could tell everyone I dont like it too. Kep your head up. I know what it likes to build something and finish it and it just aint what you wanted 100%. It will work out and in the meantime I will keep my eyes open for you

    Clark-
I can understand your need to feel the wind in your hair.

I know where there's a 32 roaster body in a warehouse nearby. Maybe you can pry that away from it's owner?

Seriously though, look how cool your old RPU was and that wasn't a high dollar car to start out with. Ya don't need to spring for a real ******* car when you have a perfectly useable sawzall and a plasma cutter around.

So when's the bubble-top getting built, anyway????

My other idea was to build another RPU and do the things I wish I would have done to the first one. Unfortunately it would look a lot like the first one. I guess when it comes down to it I miss the RPU.

    Dirty...the 32 is everything I wanted but *******

Gotgas...I think I can make what I want out of a coupe. The longer door may even make it easier to get into.

Rob...I'm hoping to get to the bubble top next year.

Funny. Lately I find myself wishing I had built something with a top.

Your RPU to me is still one of the coolest cars I have ever seen. I think you should just build another one inspired by the original design. It inspired me...I am just not as talented.

You guys are going to have to just make a top for your cars.:)
I'll never again have another roadster. Too much sun, wind, heat and rain for me. Call me a chicken coupe!

I smell another "build two at one time" winter again. Lets do it damn it!

  17. Please.....I aint scared. But I wouldnt cut the top off of a 33-34. Too many other options to go *******. Hey, you can have both...and you'll appreciate that more when you hit 50! I dug the **** outta the last two coupes you've turned out. What happened to the bubble top p***ion? So many great ideas, so little time.

Hey Clark, I'll trade you my '48 for your '32 and then you can sell or trade the '48 for the roadster you want.

Well, it was worth a shot!

I like the 32 Grile shell on the 33, but i can see what you mean about an old grill shell on a new car. But you must admit, going back to 32 for the gas tank looks great on a fenderless 33.

Spring will be here before you know it.

Besides, it's not like you run into your old RPU on the street...

    Clark,

Just because a cabrio is not the norm, does'nt mean you could not make it work, with your skills I am sure you can. I suggest keeping a slight channel during your rework since it is already channeled. The lower body reveal and front frame rails do not flow well on a highboy 33-34 in my opinion.
I may be a wimp, but I like having roll up windows once in a while in my cabriolet.
Another route would be to get a Real Steel 34 Roadster body from SAR. They are a few bucks, but they are top notch quality and worth it if it is in the budget. I was there last week checking them out, and everything is fixtured right.

    Knock it off Rob :D

Chris...I've been studying the 33/34's more lately and I see what you're saying about the frame.

The cabrio would make a great car but I don't think it would look good in the same style as my 32 and the rpu before it.

I have thought about the Steve's body but I could live with a coupster for half the price.

Boones..the 999 car is not a road car. I'm thinking ahead for our Bville trip in two years. Are you gonna have the sedan ready to go with us? :D

Flatdog...you might be a little right about the restless part. Although the sidecar sounds like fun I've got plenty of miles in a roadster and I miss it

    Jman...nice try

345window....you're just afraid you may want to cut the roof off yours

    Lucky ...thanks!!

I guess I'll just have to see what turns up...maybe Hershey

Clark, Mindslip here. Where did you get your tire's that are on your coupe? Was it Lucas? Also, how much are they? If I may ask.

Chris...the tires were from Lucas. I think they were between $100 and $125.
At the time I could only get 650x16 and 600x16. I saw in Rod & Custom a guy has a set of 750x17. Don't know where he got them.
