Hi HAMB Friends. I haven't posted to the HAMB in awhile. I still use it often as an invaluable resource through Google searches; however, I have a couple of questions I thought I would throw out here. 1. I would like to swap out my steering wheel in my chopped coupe. I have F1 steering and would like to use a banjo wheel or a 40 wheel. I have looked for 1940 shafts to purchase and graft to my F1 shaft with no luck. What is the popular solution here? 2. Damn Holley 94 carburetor keeps leaking at the Nozzle Bars. I read somewhere on here that "the nozzle bars can be a very efficient siphon". So true. So crazy. So frustrating. Other than ensuring the bleed holes are open any lessons learned here? Which nozzle bars are preferred - V shape? While we are on the topic does anyone have their tried and true combination of 94 on a Banger jet size, power valve size, and pump squirter size? Thanks!
Don’t weld on the steering shaft. If you have enough length, have the top of the shaft cut to the proper 1940 taper, a keyway cut, and thread the end to hold the nut. In my sedan I used an F-1 box and it required a little shortening, so I did as described to hold my 40 style wheel. No welding or extra parts required. Just a couple simple machining operations.
Before you start cutting/welding your steering shaft, see if ForeverSharp might have the correct adapter. I wanted to install a banjo wheel on my 55 Tbird, but couldn't find the correct adapter. Last year, I discovered that ForeverSharp has two adapters for the 55-57 Tbirds.
