For me its easy. I don't like roadsters, never did and unless I have a life changing experience I never will.
If you are more motorcycle oriented, it's for sure a Roadster! I prefer mine with a removable top. Either a convertable or a hardtop but ******* is the way to go! Dan Stevens dba, Steelsmith
Make mine strawberry. Or neopolitan. That way I can have both chocolate and vanilla, with my favorite of strawberry on top.
Fuzzy Knight, Whats a heater? let's see if I can 'splain this to you-it's something that blows hot or cold air when you turn it on, like some people on h never mind, you're in CA so you probably won't need one. I tell my biker friends that a roadster is like a Harley with training wheels.
My hat's off to anyone 71 years young and still living their dreams. You could put a foot spa in it and I wouldn't give a hang! Nice car by the way!
I have always wanted a coupe which I now have but I can honestly say it is not as much fun driving it as the T Bucket I sold to buy it. I will say I'm happier with the coupe as it is much more practical, my wife can actually get in it, and I don't miss getting baked by the sun like I did in the T bucket. But there was nothing better than taking a cruise on a nice summer evening with the T Bucket.
Most top down roadsters don't do much for me as far as eye appeal BUT a correctly chopped roadster top gives a hole new meaning to a nasty, sinister hot rod............................
Think what you like,,,us OLD GUYS have paid our dues and were building Hot Rods when you were playing with match box toys. And contrary to your thinking we are all rich,,man have I got news for you,,a large majority of us OLD GUYS have saved, traded and swap cars many times to get into the 32 Roadster/Coupe,,that's what you call traditional! HRP
For me i always wanted a coupe but i made the mistake of asking my wife what she thought and i took her for a ride around the block in a friends '29 roadster and she said build a roadster so i spent about 5 years building my '33 and i think she rode in it maybe 5 times in 9 years.. The nice thing about the '33 i built was the lift off top, made it almost lilke driving a coupe with the windows down but in about 2 min. you could be *******.. Now i'm building my coupe that i've always wanted.. and hope to have it on the road late next year..
SO you need both ... But if I had to choose ... I would keep the roadster and sell the coupe. I like my 3W ... but I love my roadster. I have owned it 30 plus years and plan on keeping it until I take the dirt nap and then the wife can do what she wants with it. The 3W ... is like other cars I have owned. It is nice, but it could be bought. I rarely sell off cars but sometimes ... they do leave ... BUT the roadster will NEVER leave
that's the only way it makes sense, if weather is the arguement you can't legaly run a fenderless car in the rain in this state and the cold dry days are usually wet anyway
you know what...after contemplateing, ive come to a conclusion that the majority here is right.....owning 2 is the only way to go... so I guess ill have to talk to the miss's about another bundle of joy in the garage one the coupe is done...
its been a while and a ridiculous argument but after seeing so many poll threads Ive decided to add a poll to this cold war battle...lol I guess just for our own amu*****t. have fun people!
Cabriolet is possibly a good compromise, if compromise is possible. Not quite as good looking as a coupe or a roadster, but done right can be pretty close. Top down for good weather. Top up and side windows (not curtains) up for weather that's too hot or too cold (with a/c and heater). If compromise is not possible, the answer is probably both. There are no easy answers.
For me, I had my 57 vette 1st and mid spring the hard top comes off and doesn't go back on till late fall, so I bought a coupe. I guess if I had a some kind of a coupe 1st I'd a looked for a roadster. Gotta have both in my book. There's nothing like cruising along on a hot summer nite ******* !!!!
Roadsters are essentially a convertible....and most convertible drivers are chicks or gay dudes.....haha....that or the dude is just vain..... No roadster will ever look as TOUGH as a chopped coupe...... Besides...roadsters tend to blow my hat off....and that pisses me off......haha
Roadsters are very cool to look at, but if I had a choice of which one to own, put a roof over my head any day!
I drive a 4 door roadster (phaeton), a true fair weather car. When it rains I just fit the side curtains. My project Olds has a roof and wind up windows. Best of both worlds.
Interesting....it's like a wave that started off hard in the roadster direction and now looks like the coupes are secretly starting a big wave...let's see how the pole goes...
I prefer a coupe over a roadster. Of co****, living in New England plays a lot into that decision. Best to have one of each.
In the summer, when it's all warm outside, a nice long ride in a roadster is the perfect ending to a day. Good or bad.
Actually, the convertable is essentially a coupe where the top can be put down. A roadster has no roll up windows and the windsheild can be removed. Most people who don't know the difference are dumb***es.."and that pisses me off......haha "No roadster will ever look as TOUGH as a chopped coupe...... Besides...roadsters tend to blow my hat off...." If wearing a hat makes you feel 'tough' in a coupe, good for you. Personally, I just use a comb when I get out of the roadster
