Any of you guys running cowl lights on your hot rod?...I was wondering when it became the thing to do taking them off and running the cowl smooth..just wondering..thinking of putting a set on my roadster to use as turn signals. I'm running a set of E&J head lights on the front and aftermarket "street rod" turn signals just don't fit with what I'm trying to do.

    Thanks for the info,
    Jerry

I'd prefer not to have them, but they make good turn signals. I painted the clear bulbs with yellow engine paint and they work great.
I drove a Model A for years without turn indicators and, you either have to get you arm wet if its raining, or take your chances...

I'd like to see more pics of different cars too. With and without fenders. Seems like they might look weird on a fenderless car..........?

I am kicking around using them on my 31 roadster for turn signals. Just haven't decided yet either.

I was contemplating using them on my 28 A..I dont have any..and its not something you see alot on the 28 year A's..so i havent warmed up to it yet..I am going full fender..so it might look ok..and I would probably put amber lenses in them and use them as turn signals..maybe..see i told you i wasnt sure

They look ok with fenders, but, otherwise I would say no. In my humble opinion.

I run them as parklamps and turn signals on my '34 because it's more of a street rod. I don't run them on my '32 hot rod............click onto photo to enlarge...click again for full size.

I run them on my '33 because I just like the look of them, but I almost never turn them on.

I'm running some down on my frame horns. Not sure what they're off of. They're wired for running lights and turn signals.

are they going on a 30 model A roadster?
i think you could use 32 cowl lights & mount them about where 32's are.

No reason to take them off, I use them for turnin' signals.

My coupe didn't have the cowl lights originally, but the turn signals on the headlight bar were ugly. Someone added cowl lights along the way. They function as directionals. I'd like to get rid of them, but then what..

I bought them for and plan on running them on my 30 Chevy coupe as signals but that car will be full fendered. The roadster on the other hand I doubt will have cowl lights or fenders...

I left mine on because they were already turn signals, they are old and unless someone added them later, the original rodder in 1951 liked them enough to keep them. If they were good enough for him, they are good enough for me. I thought about replacing them with modern plastic motorcycle turn signals... yeah right!!

  27. Another "yes" vote! Wired as parking lights and turn signals.
