Hey guys, I just got my headers in and need to figure a way to fit the pitman arm. It's tighter than I thought it would be but should be do-able. I'm sure others have had this issue and wanted to get some ideas and pics of how it was dealt with. I made up some cardboard arms to show the fit. I tried searching for "cowl steering" but didn't find a lot of pics showing the outside.

This looks a little long to me and puts the drag link (red bar) a little low at the back end:

A curved arm would put the drag link end right behind the pipe, and a little higher. Maybe I could clearance the cowl a little to fit?

Borrowed this pic from stripers build thread. If I try to stay above the pipe the arm would be pretty short, but I like the way he cleared the cowl.

Looking at your pics some more i don't think those headers will work - time to make your own set i think.

I think that curved arm could cause some geometery issues.

I dig the pocket you made, that's about what I was thinking of. How did you make the rivets?

First off, what type of box are you running? A pittman arm that long will be hard to steer, a shorter one say 6 1/2-7 inch is most common. The pipes can go anywhere, the steering not so much, i would set up the steering where it needs to be and then make the exhaust work with it.

The box is a 60's Mopar.

I would do the steering first then make the exhaust to work with the steering.
