On my 41 ford coupe. So I am down to one small p***enger side cowl vent leak from multiple. ( this is an accomplishment as it only leaks when I spray the hose right on it) I have had the vent door off numerous times and have not yet seen where a drain hose would go on this car. any ideas thanks.

Usually, the drain is in the front most center farthest from the windshield. It drains from the bottom of the weatherstrip channel through the drain, down a rubber hose connected to the drain and out to the engine compartment through a hole in the firewall.

Make sure the drain hose is not right on top of your distributor......

    Good luck, -Abone.

Pull the gasket out and see if there is a drain tube. Go from there.

my '41 has no drain tube. If you can't get a good seal with gasket and adjustments check to see if the vent cover is bent. Also don't tighten the pivot bolts too much. I tighten them enough to allow the handle to cam over so cover is tight and then put a spot of RTV on the bolts to keep the adjustment. Lockite would also work

Do you think it would help if I installed a drain in the channel w/ a hose out the firewall? or make it worse

The car should have had a drain tube in the channel from the factory,it could have been broken off at one time or another.

Look under the dash with a flashlight and see if you see some area where the drain tube was and drill the channel and add a piece of tubing and a hose ,this will keep the cowl vent from peeing on your right foot when it's raining. HRP

Boy I would like to see a picture of that drain tube, I sure never was aware of one on my 46 coupe. My 40 certainly does not have one. This is something totally new to me.

I thought cowl vents were there for washing off the backs of the gauges.
