CPP power disc brakes

I bought a power disc brake kit for my 1963 Nova SS. They have been installed and work fine (manually) until I hook up the vacuum line to the booster. When I do this they go to the floor. I have tried everything, even took it to my local garage without any success.

Please help, I am stumped

 

What do you mean by they go to the floor? do you mean that when you step on the pedal it goes to the floor with out any braking or do you mean that when you fire it up the pedal gets ****ed to the floor under vacuum?
Have you tried calling CPP's tech line?

 

Have you checked the rod between the master cylinder and the booster for adjustment? Mine was set too tight and did some goofy stuff. Check and make sure your brake pedal will allow full M/C stroke also.

 

Sounds like a brake pedal ratio problem... I have been thru it a couple of times with 2 different vehicles. I cannot explain it all that well but I know some of the wiser HAMBers will be able to explain it, but I bet ya that's it! Something minor that just often gets overlooked...

 

With the car running on jack stands and the vacuum line unhooked I can appy the brakes and they stop the wheels. With the car still running, I hook up the vacuum line, push on/apply the brakes and the pedal goes to the floor and the wheels do not stop.

I have tried the CPP tech line several times without any success.

I drove the car two years ago, but had pretty much giving up on it. I have it parked in a storage unit and just decided to try to figure it out.

 

I've installed a couple CPP brake kits and had NO problems, good stuff!
I would try calling them, there tech guys are awesome. Its probly something simple, give em a call

 

What happens if you hold pressure on the pedal (engine off).Does it slowly go to the floor.The master cylinder is nothing but a hyd pump if you have all the air out of the system the and a good master cylinder it will only travel as far as fluid demand will let it.Seen too many bad new and rebuilt cylinders.

 

I will have to try with vacuum line hooked up and car not running and see what happens.

did you properly bench bleed the m/c when you first installed it?

 

Check out the SSBC web site for tech tips or call their 800# and tell them their compe***or -CPP is worthless, I'm sure they will be glad to give you some help then.

 

have the booster checked i had one i fixed for a friend that did same thing i took it to a place that rebuilds them he told me what it was before he took it apart a rubber disc fell out of place when friend changed master he fixed it for free but i gave him 20 anyway
