I was just wondering if anyone had used the POR15 epoxy putty to repair a steering wheel and if it worked good? I have a wheel that I bought on Ebay and when I got it, it had a BIG part cracked out of it. Its right under the horn ****on. Do you think bondo would work? I figured it would just crumble apart. Any suggestions?

I repaired a banjo wheel that my dad was throwing away. About 50% of the wheel was broken away and it was bent. I started out by straightening it out. Then I cleaned the rust off the "core". I used a 2 part epoxy to fill in the big gaps and then smoothed it with a light filler. After about 2 years of pretty consistent use it has a few cracks, but looks pretty darn good. I only have about 10 bucks in the whole project. It's alot of fun to tell dad's buddies that it was in his trash can! [IMG]

Thanks for the info guys. I'll check out that epoxy. Glad I didn't order some of that POR15, I knew there had to be something at the hardware store that was cheaper and would work. I'm still mad that guy on ebay said it was in great shape, when in fact it was all broken up under the horn ****on. Oh well, I planned on painting it to match anyways,

    Thanks again!

Thanks again for the advice, I got the wheel looking like new again. What type of spray paint should I use? I don't have any way to shoot it with a gun. I tried krylon which looked good but it chipping a little. Should I clear it or try another type of paint? Thanks.
