I read the same thing about possible scams on forums all the time with the same red flags. When will people learn?

  2. These assholes will never stop! Everywhere you turn these days, someone wants your money, someone wants to rip you off....and on and on.

I have been cleaning out my years and years of parts stashed away that i'm not going to use and selling on Craigs list .

I block my e-mail , say "no text" phone calls only , cash only , you buy you haul . After 30 days I will resale again if not picked up ,no refunds, no warranties. Then i list my phone number for them.

This does limit most of my sales to local people unless they send a buddy to pick it up and pay me the cash.

About 2/3s of them try to beat my price down even if i say " it's firm , so i price it all a little more than i want.

The way i see it the parts are mine and paid for, i don't have to sell them , my kids can do that after i'm dead.

I do let buyers come to my house but by talking to them ahead of time i can get a pretty good idea of what kind of person they are . The spoken word tells me more than the text word about some body.

I list a cell number in all my ads and clearly state that I do not respond to any E-Mail or Text. A few hours after my ads are placed I get numerous E-Mails which I tag as Spam in case the same persons sends me more which they usually do. I even got where I can recognize some of the names they use. Some days I have more mail in my Spam folder than I do in my regular inbox.
The deployed service man has been in use for some time now but people still fall for it.
If they do not want to deal with you in person, use caution and stay away. Your item will eventually sell to someone who legitimatly wants it.
