When his uncle passed, a friend of mine picked up a 427 Chevy long block that had a fresh rebuild about 25-30 years ago. While it was in storage the cam lube drained off, also assembly lube turned into wax in other areas. We pulled the never run hydraulic cam/lifters to re-lube and would like to know its specifications. Thank You for the help. Norb
Basic Operating RPM Range: 2,200-5,200 RPM Duration at 050 inch Lift: 224 int./224 exh. Advertised Duration: 280 int./280 exh. Valve Lift with Factory Rocker Arm Ratio: 0.460 int./0.460 exh. lift Lobe Separation (degrees): 114 This is a HIT-280-NC spec....the -2 MAY make it a split duration cam with a bit more exhaust duration. I don't have that spec.
Thank You chicken , this one has more lift Checked the base diameter and lobe lift with dial calipers tonight to find if there was a difference on the exhaust side because of the -2 stamp, probably is not the exact measurement with a caliper but pretty close .304 intake lift x the 1.7 rocker ratio = about .517 gross intake lift .320 exhaust lift x the 1.7 rocker ratio = about .544 gross exhaust lift Stamped below the Crane name is 13-17-81, thinking the cam was manufactured in 1981.
