Do any of you guys know if the ford orange antifreeze can be converted to the green stuff? Its in a 99 Taurus. Sorry for this off topic stuff...I'm just not sure about this one. Bill
hell no...it will leave a gummy residue in your motor....and what if you flush etc..who knows, but I wouldnt try it...saw it mixed and it is gummy and sludgy
As far as I know YES, I have done it in the past wether it was right or wrong is beyond me. I know the tarus is stil on the road I did it to. As long as it is aluminum safe I would think its ok. Be sure you flush all the old orange out first.
oh but why would you get rid of the orange? The only reason I did It, was because I replaced everything, radiator, thermostat, water pump, hoses and heater core as well. The green stuff I used was free so thats why it got it.
I got the car wrecked with no water at all and was thinking "well if theirs no water in it maybe I should change it to the green".
did that with a taurus i had the orange crap had turned brown. just be sure to flush the block good with h20 and i had no problems with it.
I work in a Chevy/Buick dealership, and we've converted a few Dexcool (red juice) vehicles to the older green coolant with no ill effects. Like the others have said, just give it a good flush and get as much of the red out of it as you can. Dexcool's touted as being superior to the green coolant, but after seeing what it turns into after a few years, I've got my doubts.
