Installing a Chevy crate engine in my '36 Ford, the old one had a 2 barrel carb. I am going to upgrade to a 4 barrel. Any suggestions, Holley or Edelbrock? It is strictly a driver, no racing or high speeds, just cruising.
I have done ok with Edelbrock/AFB's but recently had problem, apparently due to the Edelbrock's sensitivity to too much fuel pressure.
Edelbrock would be fine. Depending on the intake you'll want to get a phenolic spacer, or the floats will boil when you park it. Also adjust the float, even though they say you don't have to.
Edel performer and Holley 600 vacuum. Simple, solid power down low where a stocker wants it, so easy to tune. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/hly-0-80457s/overview/ http://www.summitracing.com/parts/edl-2101/overview/
I've used the Edelbrock 500CFM Thunder carb with electric choke and the early style Edelbrock intake with the oil filler tube on several Chevy crate engines with excellent results.
