Installing a Chevy crate engine in my '36 Ford, the old one had a 2 barrel carb. I am going to upgrade to a 4 barrel. Any suggestions, Holley or Edelbrock? It is strictly a driver, no racing or high speeds, just cruising.

Not Q-jet for me! Edelebrock with electric choke and you will never be happier!

  5. I have done ok with Edelbrock/AFB's but recently had problem, apparently due to the Edelbrock's sensitivity to too much fuel pressure.

Edelbrock would be fine. Depending on the intake you'll want to get a phenolic spacer, or the floats will boil when you park it.
Also adjust the float, even though they say you don't have to.

The Edelbrock with electric choke # 1406 is hassle free, you won't be sorry.

I've used the Edelbrock 500CFM Thunder carb with electric choke and the early style Edelbrock intake with the oil filler tube on several Chevy crate engines with excellent results.
