Came out of work one day and found a ex girlfriend sitting in my car.
She was crazy! We are talking have the papers to prove it crazy.
Grabbed her by the neck just like the snake pics and extracted her from the car.

Along the lines of wiring all in the same color; I actually BOUGHT a wiring harness from J.C. Whitney for a 56 Chevrolet some 40 years ago. It arrived, and every single wire was RED, and none had any kind of identifier on them. The wiring schematic looked like it had been done by an elementary school class, and made in BRAZIL. I just put it away thinking I might use it one day. Jump ahead about 30 years, and the 56 Sedan Delivery I had bought it for, I traded to a friend and his son for some bodywork and a repaint on my DD truck. "Did't you say you had a new wiring harness for this?"........................................................................."Why yes I do, here you go!" He SOLD that wiring harness at the Monroe Swap Meet a few years ago. He still has the Delivery; I had three at the time, and now I'm finally down to one. I worked at a Standard Chevron Dealer all through high school (66-69). The owner was a Mormon, as were a good many of our customers. One of his personal friends, who of course was Mormon, was allowed to store an old 4 door Rambler in a corner of the lot; it had been there a couple of years when the owner moved away, and left the car. A couple of us were told to clean out the car, and that a wrecking yard would be picking it up. In the trunk was a briefcase, and inside were HUNDREDS of snap shops of posed, "nekid wimen". I guess the guy was an amatuer photographer; a fine Mormon I guess. The boss was VERY interested in the photos, and kept the briefcase in his office where he spent a lot of time, "doing the books"; he was even an elder in his ward. I am Butch/56sedandelivery.

Where is the story about the guy that used a 22 long in place of a fuse?

  9. I bought a Rambler 2 door hardtop at an impound auction for $75, brought it home and had keys made for it. It started and ran fine so I started cleaning it up. In the trunk I found old sleeping bags, a bunch of rusty fishing tackle and a badly corroded aluminum tube with brass caps on the ends that I set aside while I put the rest of the junk from inside the car in the trash. When I got around to opening the tube it contained a pristine Thomas Special bamboo fly rod complete with the extra tip, the sheath and the store tag still on it.

this was the steering in a 40 Ford pick up I worked on. I spoke with a local "old timer" about it and he said "oh, yeah that's the way we did it back then"

In my Buick i've found a leftover paper packing of an old (very old) condom.
I've also bought old funeral car, i've found many one-time hand gloves, brand new black plastic body sack, keys to morgue in very small town, and behind the seats - many, many empty beer cans and naked girl magazines. And there also was 7-tone horn under the hood.
In my car club there is a history being told of finding hand grenade inside rocker panel, but i don't have pic to prove it...
Does concrete inside rocker panel counts as crazy?

    I would say so.....
A buddy of mine who worked at a shop said this OT car came in lowered in the back. The concrete was poured into the trunk even with the decklid. What they did not anticipate was the both quarters buckling behind the rear wheels.
That's One way to Slam it.o_O

My second vehicle to buy was a 55 1st GMC. That truck was beat to hell and is honestly worthy of a thread on here one day. It had the best stance I have ever seen on a AD truck. It looked like it drove out of American Graffiti.....
Anyway it had these iron straps that kind of sort of looked like motor mounts on the front attached to the front of 1970 300 horse 350.
It had a dog chain....yes a dog chain... wrapped around the drivers exhaust mainfold.

When I got it home I thought...."What's that damn chain for?" That is until I revved the engine and felt a bump in the floor.
The chain kept the engine from twisting out of the truck.

Ahhh the teeny tiny fiberglass repair on the floorboard of my old 52 Chevy Coupe. So I pick at it with a screw driver.
20 minutes later I have the whole floor board on the barn floor rolled up like a burrito.

In the early '70's GM had crappy motor mounts and instead of doing a recall and replacing the mounts, they came up with a cable that was bolted to the exhaust manifold and the A arm shaft.

  22. I found a rust bubble in the "C" pillar of a car once, picked away at it, and after the bondo fell out, there was a white powdery stuff crumbling out of the hole. I thought I had hit the motherload of someone's coke stash, until I had a closer look. It was BREAD. Hard, white bread, near on a whole loaf, stuffed into the pillar, shaved down (would have sanded well), and used as the backing for some bondo "make-a-panel". At least they didn't use that whole-grain stuff, it would be a prick to hide all those seeds.

Before there were repops for 55-57 chevys, one of the hard to find parts was the tail piece that formed the bottom of the trunk and rolled out under the rear bumper. My dad found a 57 that looked really good, not much rust, and a solid rear panel. Got it home, started messing with the car, and found that the tail piece was a 2x4 that had been carefully carved out and shaped to fit.

My unibody was a dead solid runner when I got it, every time you hit the key it fired and ran. Pulled the motor out to do a suspension swap and found that the 3 wire alternator was connected by twisting wires. no tape, no crimp, not even a household wire nut. just bare wires twisted.
Under the dash was a handful of wires with more cracks than insulation, and the whole truck was running off one fuse. Needless to say that system is all gone and has been replaced by rebel wire.
Still amazed how well it ran, an how it never caught on fire!

  29. The strangest thing I found was a credit card in the other 1956 Chrysler I bought out of Ct. from J.F.K.s . AUNT.All the badges had been taken off the car and when I cleaned out the glove box I found I guess its her old credit card. I just went to see if I still had it and I do. Here a picture of it. 30. Heres a picture of her car. You can still see the CT inspection sticker on the windshield. After I got done repainting it., the car ran like a champ, drove it on the interstate with no problems .That car never gave me a problem and when I took it in to have the front end looked at the fellow there said everything under the front was good. He said it looks like some one really took car of this car. Sorry I let that one go. Bruce. Justin022.JPG
