Recently enlistee around here. I’ve got a ‘36 Ford Pickup with an independent front suspension that’s a bit creaky. I suspect it’s a least nine to ten years old, only about 1000 miles in that time. I have no history on the building of the car, although it appears to be either an outstanding amateur or a hot rod shop. I posted a photo of the truck on the introduction section, if anyone knows, or was a previous owner, I’d welcome any information! I found a listing for it from 2015 in San Francisco, had an Illinois ***le when I bought it. Drives straight, steering is pretty tight. Already lubed the ball joints, helped a bit. My question is how to ID which IFS I have and if the bushings/rebuild kits are interchangeable a**** the various aftermarket IFS. My apologies if I’ve posted in the wrong area. Thanks! Craig
Unfortunately no builder info and no details about the front end that was used. https://www.me***.com/lots/1117485/1936-ford-custom-pickup/ https://www.sanfranciscosportscars.com/used-vehicle-1936-ford-model-68-pickup-c-261/ Take some photos of the front end and post them here.
most aftermarket suspensions are clones or copies of Mustang 2 which is basically the same as pinto. All of which are off topic on the main forum here because this is a traditional hot rod forum and not a street rod site. you can see the rules for posting here:https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/the-h-a-m-b-rules-guidelines.44274/
If its polybushed the bushes are probably the cause of the creaking. Pull the bolts and inner steel sleeves. Grease and re***emble.
Or you could have just gone to the off topic part of this board and enjoyed a new experience. Really, Moriarity, you could have easily added that the Off Topic part of the HAMB is for non traditional stuff. Explaining to him why you mover it there would be more helpful the blasting him for an off topic ride.
