Art & Inspiration Creative dash knobs

Great tech post and and back up
In reference @Moriarity in another post looking for info by @Mark T and shift knobs .
I was looking for vintage shift knob sources bakelite and colored knobs with tokens . I see the Ads in the for sale section on the hamb and elsewhere on such shifter knobs.
So I figured make my own acrylic shift knob and cast my own.
I found a place that sells kits to cast your own lens and other items made out of plastic. I bought a kit from moldputty.com and had great results. I believe you can make your own design or the Yo YO shifter by the OP.
I cast a 1937 ford shift knob using the amazing mold rubber and mixing the 2 part silicon rubber. I poured it into plastic ****tail plastic gl*** to remove both the mold and original shift knob . I then mixed a clear resin 2 part with a bit of mixed color metal flake. This is my results and can do a tech next time I cast something.

 

Those are really cool. I'm looking forward to your tech on the next knobs. Great to see this thread come back up. Maybe with some of us having some time right now, we can make and show more creative knobs. There's a lot of creativity and inspiration on this thread. Thanks everybody!
