I have a 51 3100 axle I am using on a custom build. I am building a tube frame so have no reference. I bolt up my superslides meant for this axle and they are not square with the front axle.
I have the bolts loose and can wiggle the springs a bit. The closest I can get them is with the rear 29.5 outside eye to outside eye and the front is 27.25 outside eye to outside eye.

    Is this right?

The frame on the '51 is not parallel. The pads on the axle reflect this.

Many leaf spring cars have "non-parallel" parallel leafs. No biggie. Gary

Thanks I thought that was the case. But, I still had a "what the" moment when I first bolted them down.

Its fairly common for them to be "toed-in" at the front. This helps a little when you are depending on them to keep the rearend from moving side to side.Just a way to take up the slack from all the mounting bolts, shackles etc.
