cross steer

    is there any way to convert a cross steer front end to a traditional steering? the front end i have is a 35 ford.

    Front end type does not matter if you buy the bolt on type "hoop" steering arm for the driver side spindle. It uses the two top backing plate holes.



    Leave the spare tapered crosslink bung on the p*** steering arm, in case you want to switch back sometime.

    Merle, YES. All you need is a after market steering arm to go on the drivers side spindle,
    check the Speedway catalog. You will also need to build a new drag link to go with a side steer steering box.

    I just spotted your other thread about wheel ID. If that is the same axle you are talking about? It might not be a 35/36. Hard to see, but it looks like late 40s brakes without the adjustable lower shoe anchors, and I think the perches are out further than 35/36.

    I mention this in case you split the bones way out; you will most likely get tire rub on the bones and won't have a good turning radius. Tuck the bones under if you can, even a little bit will help.

    the breaks are from a buick with finned drums. the guy bending my wishbones doesnt think i will have a rub issue.
