I've always wanted a '32 five window!! No doubt one of the coolest cars on the planet. I looked for years and roughly 8 years ago I stumbled on a basket case. It started life in Maine as a coupe but some knucklehead decided to cut the roof off and call it a roadster.. I dragged the car home, stripped all the garbage off and quickly started collecting parts to fix the old gal and return her to a coupe.
32 parts aren't easy to find or cheap!! I found that out the hard way. I located a coupe roof that had already been chopped but the seller cut it in thirds to ship it??? I had no idea he was going to do that.
I also found a pair of doors, additional roof headers and pieces.... Pretty much everything to getter R done.
This is the second time I've decided to let her go and again, I'm on the fence.... I personally don't think it a huge huge project... But I've got like 7 other projects in line...... I'm at a cross road image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg

I would think that with what you have plus United Pacific for the missing parts this would be a very doable save. I'm in the middle of saving a lot less than you have,

Insert tab A into slot B. No problem. I believe your 3 window started like that too. My roadster was just cast-offs and scraps. It can be done!

Since you're on the fence, you better keep it.

judging by the 'new' sheet metal behind the top, one of your projects is obviously a roadster. If it were me, 'original' beats out 'new' hands down. The 5w deserves to be put in the front of the line...but then, I'm an opinionated deuce bass-turd.

  8. If its been in a pile for 8 years its about time to do something with it?

Take a block of time long enough to join just 2 pieces together. Then see how you feel about your coolest car ever.

  9. time is the never ending force against all of us. Sell it, the 7 other projects, pool all the money and get a 32 that you can get in and drive. One of many options......

No matter how chewed up the pieces are , it would be a bitch to get them all together again.
Unless dough needs to be channeled to another project ( usually the case), I'd leave that upstairs and drive your other coupe (s) till the right answer jumps out at you. (Or sell your wife's car?)
May be time to put a roof off the OTHER side of the garage!! or over the whole yard??

Chicken soup (coupe) from chicken shit! ( not the BEST example, but ya know what I mean) From the Fredette Model A Grab Bag, 2014

Go for it. I have a friend that fixed a 5 window that had the top cut off in the 60's

  13. You've always wanted one, and it's one of the coolest cars on the planet. Do the other easier projects meet those criteria ?

    True....just a bit worn out.

    I'd trade it for a '34 coupe

However, once a guy walks on the moon what does he have to look forward to?

Is it the money or emotion? I sold a rough '32 Vicky body to throw at my kids college debt. I got more than I thought it was worth, buy miss daydreaming about the build. I don't think I'll ever be able to afford another. Bob

I bought my 32 5 window roughly 15 years ago and it sat for about 12/13 of them.
It was very rough, and all i had was a bare shell, a rotted trunk lid and on rotted door.
It took about 8 years to accumulate all the bits and pieces i needed to build it.

In the fall of 2010 i decided to sell all of it.
After listing it and dealing with a few non serious buyers, i made a 100% u turn and said it was no longer for sale.
That winter i got to it and by spring 2012 it was done.

Moral of my story, i could not be happier i kept it!!!
Had i sold it all, i would have regretted it for years.
Keep the car and stitch it together.
Especially if you have truly always wanted one like i had.
Right now, my 32 is one of the most important non living things in my life and brings me the most fun and a sense of pride few other builds have.

    Just my thoughts.

  22. We can't tell you what to do, thats your decision. We can cheer you on while you build it though.
To quote you..."I've always wanted a '32 five window!! No doubt one of the coolest cars on the planet."
Sounds to me like you would like to bump this project up in the line. It will take up less space once you get all the pieces put together. Hard to imagine your other projects being more desirable than a Deuce Coupe.

F_ck it buy a billet frame, slap a 350 Chevy and a glass body and you to can own a yeller American graffiti coupe..... The easy shit ain't what keeps you going, it's the one of a kind, built from a pile of rust sweepings that is worth doing.

Spend a little time tacking what you have together. See if that satisfies the itch, or fires you up to move it to the front of the line.

This site has some amazing saves on projects like yours and I am sure you have the talent to make it happen. Time is a thief and the longer you wait the less time you will have to realize your dream car. I watch the Kennedy boys put this stuff together and it turns out fabulous. I think I would go for it….dreams do come true!
