I'm an avid crossword person and I just was doing the LA Times crossword and came upon this; "Custom car made from cast-off parts". 6 letters. It's not allowed here. Pat
I'm more into cryptics. If it's the not-allowed answer, "Deity stepped in automotive mess (6)" would be an easy cryptic clue. A bit harder: "Alternatively, sailor goes back to door opening of dilapidated car (6)" That's tricky, because the solver is going to get stuck on the idea that alternatively indicates an anagram, which it doesn't.
Hello, Some folks put in RATROD as a description of a "ratty" looking old car. Since those builds are not appropriate to the traditional HAMB posts, then A RAT ROD is not a part of HAMB... so, the answer was simple... But, grammatically correct for those multiple builds that actually get in the forefront of a photo or even in the background, then it is considered with an (s) at the end. Jnaki My wife is/was an English Major and she is very good at what she learned in college, despite the intrusion of my presence in her life, those last two years. Ha! So, yes, as it was posted, 6 letters. But, for those builds that are in some photo backgrounds, plural, an "S" is added for clarity and correct English we all supposedly learned in 9th grade. YRMV
It is. I do the Sunday one every week. Some of the car related clues are not easy, especially for the layman. However, crossword puzzles across the board do tend to repeat certain clues. Like, with the car related stuff.... "GTO" & "REO" come to mind.
