taking the front clip off the '49 and cleaning stuff up. Used the air hammer to clean off a bunch of undercoat and crud but there are parts of the suspension I cant reach with it. What can I use to remove the rest?? I want to keep the front suspension together for the time being so as to keep it a roller. Lacquer thinner, acetone, mineral spirits?? Something to soften it up so I can wash / scrape it away without hurting any rubber bushings??? Thanks-

Try 50% simple green and 50% water or similar.
Stay away from acetone, it dries out rubber bushings.

ZEP products makes a degreaser/detergent called TNT.
I've used it where I work for quite a while, works great.
Get in touch with your local ZEP dealer.

if you have access to a power washer ,it'll clean up a lot of crud after you spray on a cleaner like Simple green and such.
