  1. Last month, the Lamplighter/Corkys crowd had no idea there was cruising further up, when I said something to them about it. The now Corkys is so far from the main activity, it's like a separate event. We need to join or connect the two

  2. hey Reid, still waiting on those VNCA stickers you said you mailed out last August.....hmmmm

mschevelle, do you know what happened to the Saturday night Canyon Country cruise? Wasn't it a once a month deal?

    thanks

  6. Hey Rikki,
Got a hair flip for ya.

    Robert

=mzchevelle;5320091]I called today to verify that is it now called "Corky's" and the new sign went up Sunday. The location is still the same. Very confusing, but I am glad it is straightened out now. Reid, sorry I doubted you.[/QUOTE]

  7. I think that Reid has backed out of this. Too much flak from city officials.

There weren't that many cars cruising the blvd. last night. Whuzzup with dat? Last Summer, the lanes were jammed. Are the crowds falling off? Even the Mobil station on Burbank Blvd/VNB was quite empty. The gustapo was watching the parking lot @ Ralphs (losers). Like that overpriced store would fill up that lot with customers.
Thank you, Warner, @ Corky's for your use of the lot (again), the DJ (pretty darned good) and the searchlights (yeah, I felt like a celebrity!)
    Can't wait for next month.
See y'all at Lyons next Weds. That's MY HOOD y'all.

  10. what time was this at? mobile was packed all night long. you couldn't find a parking space on the blvd from the 4n20 all the way to oxnard, alot of people cruising, i think you need to get out of that lot cruise around it was a good night. :) Last Summer, the lanes were jammed. jammed of all the cars trying to get in the rydell

  11. Ditto. Last night was pretty active...IF YA GOT UP AND CRUISED. Too many people were glued to the Corky's lot the 2 times I blew through. It's cool they let us hang there. But it's too far from the rest of the activity.

It was fun. We hit the boulevard, the lot, cruised through the packed gas station(it was intimidating haha;)), parked and chilled with some Strays and Panel Beaters, and hit the boulevard some more. We ended up back over at Corky's for a late dinner. My buddy Eric took this little vid on our final pass around 11pm.

Click on it, its a video.

I got a nice little bubble on my sidewall but the tire held all night. I might not be rolling on these 20 year old 5.20's next month though.:)

BTW - it was about 8pm when we were cruising and it was sparse out there. Maybe it was still too early. Us "working" people had to cut out a bit early so we can get up early on Thursday for work.
Robert, hair flips still welcome. It's getting really long...and GROUCHO...GET OVER IT! YOU'RE JUST JEALOUS! LOL!
I wanted to see your VEGA last night!

    Wow.

I guess it's okay for those of us who live in other parts of So-Cal NOT to go to Van Nuys as long as "work" is the excuse?

Eryk came down from Lancaster, I came from El Monte, my buddy from Pico Rivera and our other friend from Manhattan Beach. I guess we should all stay home next time becuase we have the excuse of getting out of work late or having to get up early the next day.

    BTW.... here's a snippet from post #1.

"The Van Nuys Cruising Association announced today that back by popular demand, cruising will return to Van Nuys Blvd on Wednesday, June 10th....8:00 pm and on......"

What time did you say you left? You always leave a party early and then complain about it ???

    weak.

There's plenty of time to sleep when were dead.

  27. 1-)I was @ Pomona swap meet Saturday and Sunday. It's a place where I meet friends from miles away every 6 weeks. I really enjoy that.

2-)I'm a street racer at heart. I hate sitting in line to pass "tech", only to wait again in the staging lanes just to get 2-3 passes in 8 or so hours.

3-)If you have a street legal car with your name on the title, I challenge you to a standing 1/4 mile street race with my Model A. In fact, any car with your name on the title gets a FIVE car handicap from me. Deal?:D

Wow, it was great to see all the old school cars out on Van Nuys the other night. We'd love to see some of you guys stop by our car show and check out the vintage drag cars. Even better show off your Van Nuys cruiser by entering it in the show.
