  5. break the mold, CRUISSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSE !

  6. "Frantic" Fred Badburg.....raced a blue, Altered looking car in the 70's I believe. He's still building Hot Rods a couple miles from me. A true talent!!! He builds cars the way they should be built.....FUNCTIONAL, drive anywhere, and not to worry if you get stuck in traffic in something he built. It won't overheat, and nothing's gonna fall off it.;)

  7. This might be an appropriate thread for a HAMB in-appropriate car. BUT, it would've been extremely appropriate on the "Blvd" back in the 70's. I just bought this without motor yesterday.

In 1971 fri. night became date night and sat you left your lady at home unless she was into street racing or you were lookin for a quick lay cause yur girl didn't put out on Fri. (Back when we had morals) but you'd be at Jack in the box by midnight and the hell with the ladies! In '73 it was the Bank of America and thunder came outa that place. Mid 9 sec. cars were rare but a few of us had them and we sure were'nt afraid to run our NHRA legal rides. And nitrous was for cheaters, cheaters like me, but of course if you can't run with the big dogs you were always welcome at my house on Mayall st. Man the stories that house could tell. No drugs, no drinking, no partying, just TOTAL car culture. Just a little heads up (I know Groucho was thinkin, "ALLRIGHT he's gonna tell about a race...." I got pic's Groucho!)

Oscars was Saticoy and VNB (Remember Saticoy ended at the big lot (I think GM owned it). Chevy's Inc. met at what is now Rydell's, Canyon Ford drag club met at Jack-in-the-box, The HIGH-LOWS also met at jacks (I was in both clubs) (Became vice president of the Street Racers, Van Nuys Division, in '73 when we moved it all to the B of A). That rattle anything loose?

Again, between Saticoy and Vanowen and would be on the NORTH side of the street as VNB goes east and west, how many sunsets AND sunrises did I see from the street that claimed more Hiway patrol motorcycle officers (Wrecking) because they were busy looking in the mirrored windows of the business' on VNB, at them selfs, with their blue ascots and BAM, smacked right into the vehicle stopped in front of them waiting for the light to change. TRUE STORY!!!:eek::D

I returned from Nam in April of '67, Oscar's was open. I left for Chicago street racing in July of '68, Oscars was still open. I returned from Chicago and some of the best street racin EVER, in late '70. (Dam them bro's in the projects got some fast, off the hook cars!!!!) The only place I was ever spanked and boy did they teach me about the STREETS! It's where I got the street name "GOT'CHA", thanks Skinny George, I love ya man!! Oscars must have closed in '69. A&W would have survived had that center medium not been there.

    Hey Kent,
I worked for Gary a couple years ago and met you a few times while I was there. (I sat in the back). I always ask Gary how you are when I stop by. I was there Wed. night and will try to make the next one. I hope to see you there. If I come, I'll be in the Dark Blue 74 Econoline van.

The words "Hot Rodder" were bad, bad words back then. Kinda like "Biker" use to be. Rodders were here, there and everywhere. We/they never really fit back then, anywhere. We were like mongrual dogs. Not really accepted by even the car culture and hence we became "STREET RACERS" and we didn't accept pussy's. We said what was on our mind and told it like it was. No candie coating, the cops were comin get this shit on and talk later, meet you at Tiny Naylors after the race, we can bs then.
I'd leave church on Sunday night and go to Taluca Lake Bob's FOR REAL in my '40 Ford that ran a 301 chrysler, yeah I said 301 chrysler, and ran 17.35 uncorked AND 15.22 corked up(didn't realize I needed backpressure, and loud did not make one faster, who knew? Ah the way we learn things)@ San Fernando drag strip. Stopped going to church and Taluca Lake Bob's, sure do miss Bob's, church? Not so much. Now I'm a member of the best church, "HOUSE OF THE HOLY HOLLEY" Amen brothers and sisters. May the Weber and Predator be with you. And remember, never smack a ho', smack a gear, cause only wusses think race cars don't have clutches!;)

Harvey's was mostly torn down in Jan. of 07, without a permit to do so, but, thanks to Adriene Boindo of the LA Conservancy and Jim Louder the new owner Harvey's is in the process of being resurrected as a Bob's Broiler. The building is be reconstructed using the original plans and should be in operation sometime in August.

BUT!!!!!! You ain't gonna be hearing ANYTHING about you can't drive up and down a public street. That question has already been raised in FEDERAL COURT and the city lost, seems we have the "RIGHT TO TRAVEL" , Hmmm, imagine that. Just follow their little laws and don't forget your rights! That's why me and my friends are traveling 1200 miles ONE WAY to cruise our Boulevard called Van Nuys Blvd. and trust me when I say, we will respect your area as we respect our State of Washington, were just making sure your taking good care of the ultimate car venue.

  22. NOW:p;):D:eek::cool:

Actually, it's been about 10 yrs since I had something QUICK. It's time to scratch that itch. I'm gonna build a 406 for it that I hope/plan to run in the mid 10's, on pump gas, and be driven to and from the strip on a regular basis......NO NITROUS. If I fail, you're all welcome to call me a douche bag. Because, I'll be calling me that too:D

And today I had an appointment to Manage an Automotive Center. Instead I got caught up in this thread.
Oh well, I'm that good, I'll call in the morning.
Even 1200 miles away I still love the Boulevard.
I'm either standing in front of Jack's kickin it with Super Jew, Carson (RIP), Regetti (RIP), Black Beard, Mike Johnson (RIP), Golenbeski, Shultz, Mike Hall, the Noto's, Rick, screwy Louie, Jim Sedan, Paul Curry, Joe DeLuca, Frank Conti, Sunny, and 1000's more trying to get a race for my pro stocker or standing at the B of A trying to get some cluk to run my roadster, or at the old FOOD KING on Sepulveda trying to talk Simi John into running his 66-67 Fairlane, or screwin with Monk and Fat Ron at the old White Front/Zody's on Devonshire and Reseda lot, about racing what had to be the slowest BB Chev powered Pontiac in the civilized world. And thanking goodness that I never needed the help of Frank when it came to needing bail. Gotta go, the dust is falling. And I think I hear Indians coming.

  24. So, are you coming on the 8th???????????????????

???What map are you looking at? Unless you're talking about the section of VNB that turns, goes under the 5, and takes you to my old neighborhood by the projects in Pacoima. But most of you wouldn't be caught dead on that side of the tracks.:)

See you guys on the 8th!!! Can't wait. :D

OK, I see, just wanted to be like way cool and be what it can't, A FORD!! The only co. that DIDNT FILE BANKRUPTCY!!!! YUK, YUK. See what happens when a car company actually listens to it's customers??) Let's hope it runs faster than that. The Anglia only had 266 RWH 371 w/Nitrous=9.87 in street trim. I could help. No really, quit laugh'n. Yur mean, a mean ol' vegamatic owner. Wanna race my flathead? Not my car you lil dummie, my FLAT HEAD. LOL.

  27. I have nothing but respect for you, and your accomplishments. BUT, I'm calling BULLSHIT on that one, unless the fucking car weighed 400 pounds:D

  28. No problem Kent, didn't expect a direct reply. I'll have my coupe and if my son comes too I'll have my Maverick. I'll e-mail ya at your site. Thanks!
