I probably spend 95% of my time creating something or other. Half of that is making mistakes, and the other half fixin' em.

Just got home from the store...Picked up the new Hot Rod (Oct 09 issue) The Van Nuys Cruise is the subject of the editorial and there is also a small write up in "Roddin at Random". In it, they are encouraging everyone to follow suit across the country and bring cruising back all over ....and they mention keeping the squirrels away...Good!
Also, we've now gone from being thugs to "an underground movement"...:D.

Earlier, I forgot to thank the biggest thug of all, Mrs VNcruiser, for getting to the lot early and setting up...I had to work late....And thanks to those that helped her out....

  11. I hear there's a few stragglers on the "off" Wednesdays parked near the Rydell lot. It might be worth a look

There is always room in my Chevelle for this kid. No problemo, I would be honored. You can sign me up. As long as he doesn't mind a "chick" driving! I was a limousine driver for 15 years and I still have my commercial driver's license. I am a safe driver!

Well, I just got an email, unfortunately, the kid is coming in on Sept 14 so he will miss the Van Nuys Cruise.

But I will do my best to get the kid hooked up at as many events, Bob's Big Boy, Route 66 out in Santa Clarita, etc. I know a lot of you guys and your rides so all is not lost. Plus the Make A Wish foundation who is sponsoring his trip over here is working to get the kid hooked up as well.

Again, heartfelt thanks for all of you who immediately jumped in. I just knew everyone would chime in, that's how you guys all roll.....

Route 66 (Canyon Country) is Sat. Sept 19th.
How long will he be here?
Maybe we can set up an impromptu cruise for Weds. Sept 16th. (Reid? Thoughts on this?)
Would hate for him to miss out on the fun stuff that our car culture has to offer.

Ugh, timing is everything!!! But the Route 66 Cruise should be pretty good. At this point, I am waiting to hear from the kid's parents. They are coming with him to SoCal. Make A Wish is arranging some stuff.

The other thing I thought of was a tour of Leno's garage. Anyone have inroads to that one? I bet if Make A Wish contacts him or his people, it will happen.

  22. Hey, I'm just having fun with it. But that could be a reason for starting cruises up all across america again. Stranger shit has happened. What if this was the start of something bigger then we imagined?

  23. was it Hot Rod or Car Craft that had a continuing article called Cruising Across America? Remember?

  25. Like I said, I was having some fun. The economic stimulus package that I was referring to was not FOR us but provided BY us for the businesses on Van Nuys Blvd by us bringing cruising back to Van Nuys. It was a joke. ya know? Laugh? Ha Ha? See the humor in it? Never mind.

I'm sure the local business are more than happy to see us once a month, except perhaps the Ralphs..but 4n20 was packed all night...

  27. So, I cruised pretty far to the North, past Vanowen. But, I never made it too far South of Burbank Bl. I heard there were cars sprinkled all the way to the 101. Anyone see that?

  28. No, I didn't see it.

  29. 4n20 couldn't be happy enough.

That's the thing, as long as we're spending money any business owner would rather not complain about the hordes of people, and it was a horde for sure, I could barely get around on the sidewalk. If the till is ringing then they'll most likley support our being there. Anyway, I'm happy to be part of this, glad I get to experience it even the second time around.
