Dam, it looks like we may get rained out. I guess we'll have to hope for the best. Maybe the hot rod God will want to cruise too.

My windshield wipers work. Worth the risk, it's just a little rain.

if it rains buckets i say we do a rain check the following week :)

  5. If we do, that would be really interesting to see how many that cruise are on the HAMB, since it's the only viable option to spread the word on such short notice. But, I'm in favor of the following Weds, rather than wait another whole month

I went to the Ventura cruise on Main Street last night. It was the first one and it will be held on the second Friday of every month. It was not too bad. About 100-150 cars showed up. I don't think that the crusing aspect should get too much larger as this would lead to massive traffic jams. Main street gets down to one lane each way for a few blocks. It has that old time, small town feel to it. Some good, old fashioned, "Mom 'n Pop" restaurants, old houses, neon signs and stuff like that. Some decently sized, street side, parking lots are there for those who wish to park, and are spread out along the route. The overwhelming majority of the cars cruised. I did see some nice stuff. I saw several back-halved and full chassis vehicles, and more-than-one of those were fuel-injected and blown too (Old school, roots and bug-catcher style). I also saw some nice customs, lowriders muscle cars, hot rods, etc.

Ventura was fun i cruzed out there in the Cuda and enjoyed the cars and people that showed up. I saw cars that were not at Van Nuys which was nice to see fresh cars. I will be there next month for sure!

It might be a good idea if the Van Nuys Cruising Association sets or creates a
rain delay rule or plan that if a Wednesday gets rained out we will cruise the following Wednesday? Just a suggestion, but, if everybody knows it they
will know what to do in case of a rain out.

I hope there is no rain for Van Nuys Cruise, a rain date in case it does would be nice. Ventura Cruise was good for first time out. There are pictures on www.vcrides.com .

Real hot rods don't have any stinkin' fenders, tops, or windshield wipers.

That would be a good thing to post on the website and on the HAMB. Looks like rain is a definite for Wednesday.

Steve - was that you out there in your blue 'Cuda? If that was, I saw you!
I was there too! I was with my honey, Noel in his 1965 Barracuda fishbowl. It is burgundy and has a big "ROAD KINGS" sticker on the back window. We got out there a bit later, but there were still some cars on the street. Nice stuff.

We took his car to Islands in Newbury park on Saturday night...nice gathering. WOW, nice way to send off the season!

I'll catch ya next time. Hoping for dry weather this Weds, but doesn't look likely. I'd be game for next Weds, 10/21 if the streets are wet this week. My Posi in the Chevelle isn't really fun in the rain!

Yep that was me. I had my little cruzing buddy with me Jonathan. His favorite car is my Cuda. It was not to bad for a first time cruz. I'll be back next month. With these two cruz's i am driving my junk more than i have in a long time and liking it!

Just got back from a 1 1/2 week road trip to Oregon and Nor Cal...Saw some great cars begging to be taken home along some of the highways...
The cruise is still on for this Wednesday...It's way too late to put out the word for a rain date, and besides, I cruised in the rain before:D...Might be a lot of fun.. Gonna suck for the roadster guys...And Rain-X works pretty good...We'll work on rain dates for the future, but for now, we'll stay on the schedule....
I also received an e-mail from Spudic's Movie Empire, 5910 Van Nuys Blvd (just so of Oxnard St) inviting cruisers to park at his shop and hang out. They sell vintage movies and movie posters...Another happy local merchant! I say support him!
Anyway, we all hope it doesn't rain, but if it does and it looks that it will, come out anyway. If you can't make it , we'll see you on November 11th....
Cruise Cool on Van Nuys Blvd

    :)

I just hope they don't close the grapevine down.

  24. The "hour by hour" weather report shows the peak chance of rain to be about midnite tonight to 6 AM, and slightly diminishing numbers down to 30% around 6PM tomorrow. Which is almost nil usually in the Valleys. We might dodge the bullet

Don't forget, 87 degree weather returns for the weekend and the last Route 66 in Canyon Country is this Saturday, 10/17. Noel is bringing the 1972 Elky he just scored on Sunday. You gotta see this thing! What a beauty!
