    I went to ALL of em, I'm gonna go til it dies. My fear is, the people that use the slightest excuse not to go while it's still doing fine. {QUOTE}

Don't forget Groucho, that last month we asked people to "God Forbid"
contribute something back. And like always the same people that
always help out (like yourself, Matt, Robert, Craig etc...) brought toys or whipped out their wallets. Others had to be coaxed by a pretty girl, but many gave nothing. But those who complain the most stayed away. So
we didn't think it had anything to do with the "cold" weather.

I went on Google Earth and checked out the Orange Line lot and counted a total of 598 parking spots. Even if Van Nuys Cruising Association doesn't get permission to use it we still have Van Nuys Blvd. itself. Like Groucho I'll go cruising the blvd til it dies. I went down to the Bob's Big Boy Broiler tonight, small turnout but no rain driving all the way down there. Talked with Johnny Gee. I'll be doing the New Year's Eve day cruise down Colorado Blvd. tomorrow. The cars gather at the former Fuddrucker's parking lot in Pasadena on Foothill Blvd. takeoff time is 10:00 a.m. from the lot to cruise Colorado Blvd.

  4. the cold will always keep people away from coming to the blvd. lets see what happens in the spring.

we need to keep passing out fliers keep everyone in the loop!

as for the the toy drive i think fliers should of been handed out a month(s) in advance. not everyone is on the hamb or going to the vnca web site. i think more people would of showed just for that. but it was to last minute.

see you guys on the 13th

Like we said enough to hold about 800 of your closest friends (some people bring friends in their cars) and their cars. And there is NO PROBLEM
using this empty lot, for those that want to use a parking lot. The same parking lot rules apply. Remember this is all about the CRUISE!!:D

Great. It's never to late for you to donate to needy children. We can still accept gift cards, or new games, or toys. We take cash too!:D

    +1

i was at both "cold" cruise nights & it wasn't as bad as people make it out to be ... if its so cold take a sweater or im sure a cup of coffe or hot chocolate would do the trick... im sure the food spots sell hot drinks ... jesus a starbucks is across the street from the lot ...

my favorite part was when those ridiculous trucks and 300s went in and out of the cruise and no one paid attention ...

im curious ... what time was the first donation made ??? i went around 6:30pm/7pm and when i handed the toy, the chick started jumping up and down with joy ... i wasn't sure if i was the first....

A BIG THANKS AGAIN!! We had some people that were beyond generous,
that gave earlier in the evening. We had some wonderful cruisers that had never come before, that once they found out we were collecting for children, left went cruising AND
SHOPPING, and brought us back something. Our beautiful girls asked and some whipped out their wallets. I'm really sorry to say that we got a lot
of I'm not interested, don't bother me, and even "why don't you shut the
hell up, no one wants to hear you asking for shit anymore" So we tried our best to make those SPECIAL CRUISERS, that went out of their way feel as special and happy as the children they were helping. See you

I'm on a Christmas break from the LAUSD so I had plenty of time. Usually that's something I would leave to someone else, just did it for fun.

I don't see losing the lot as a set back, just a change. So far my attendance is perfect and I thought the turnout last time was decent, they can't all be packed. As far as cold goes I rode my bike to work every day during that cold snap we had so just bundle up people and you'll be fine.

oh, Groucho, I got my truck back from bob, can you believe it?

sucks about the lot but ive also been at the orange line lot and cars rarely park at that lot, plus people could always park on the sidewalk...

Why would you park on the sidewalk and draw the kind of attention we want to avoid?....The Orange Line lot is big and empty and has bathrooms...But go cruise! It's a big street...Fill it up, not a parking lot...

I'm sure that NavyMailMan will have some of his beautiful photos to memorialize this cruise (as usual). Thanx NavyMailMan! I have yet to meet you, but every picture of my Chevelle is a winner! You rock!

We donated at about 7:30 and the girl was just as happy. Sadly, there was not much in the trailer but I guess some is better than none...

You guys/girls are very welcome. I'm just curious as to how this new scenario will play out this Wed., without the Rydell lot being the central rendezvous point for everyone to meet and hangout. I foresee myself traveling up and down the blvd. looking to see where cruisers are congregating in order to take photographs in one large central location. I know that the discussion as of late is the orange line parking lot. But due to the fact that it sits quite a distance from the Rydell lot area which has served as the gathering spot up until now, I wonder if people are willing to take the cruise further north. I'll be in search of "the spot" on Van Nuys Blvd. where most of you will be cruising up and down more frequently to set up my cameras in order to get those great street shots of everyone. However I still believe that I'll be setting up shop near Burbank Blvd again, or the Ralphs parking lot. Either way, I'll keep on top of this thread to see what you guys plan to do.

  27. OMG, dude. It's simple. We actually cruised back in the day and found the people that we wanted to see by creating our own individual hang out spot. It's not hard. You cruise to one spot. Hang out for abit then cruise to the next spot. Or god forbid you park on the blvd like we use to and watch. This just means that more people will be cruising like we're supposed to. This is why we still call it a cruise. NAVYMAILMAN will just get more action shots. Don't get your panties all tied in a knot guys. It'll be ok. It was back then, it will be now.
