Love 'em or hate 'em, it's all over. They are closing at the end of the month, and crushing out almost everything. They were more musclecar and later from what i saw, but i guess did have some on topic stuff at times, so I posted.Did a search and didn't see anything, so please forgive me if I missed it
Mr. Goodpliers on Youtube did an episode on this a couple of days ago. Being from the land of rust, it kind of hurts to see solid stuff get flattened out. It sounded like 3000 cars were going to be crushed over a two week period.
I watched that too, I like his stuff. A couple other yards bought some of the better whole cars to continue parting out, including Browne's I believe, and some cars are being set aside for a summertime auction. But unfortunately, the bulk of stuff is being crushed. Apparently the real estate is ultra-valuable and scrap is high. It is painful to watch good stuff go away like that. We lost quite a few old yards in my area of Wisconsin over the past few years, but at least they were rotted out carcasses, and I did my best to pick those places over before they went. CTC had a lot of rust-free stuff, and quite a few of the crushed cars looked like they had a lot to give yet, and apparently the prices weren't discounted in their last weeks. You either paid what they'd always been charging (not cheap), or in the crusher it went. My hat's off to the guys who did buy/save stuff out of that yard before it all went. What a shame.
Brown's have noted several time on FaceBook of cars they acquired at CTC. There would have to be some pretty good markup to cover purchase and transportation but at least the car is still "uncrushed".
The one that gets me is Adventures made from scratch which I think his business name is Silas enterprises. He factors in his YouTube revenue and chops the noses off cars and claims he gets $1,000 per car + the “art” and chops up every big truck he gets for a “ cab buyer “. He has had some really solid stuff and everything he had was complete. But he’s a guy in his early 30s. In for the quick buck
Went by there on Friday. There was a 40 Deluxe Tudor sedan by the fence and a few other cars I don’t care about. They probably want $10k for the 40 and it’s a field car.
When I lived in Texas , I visited all the local yards weekly ..and when friends came to town , one place they always wanted to visit was ctc, I lived within 15 miles of there .. it was the absolute highest priced stuff I've ever seen or heard of . I remember when there were less than 20 cars there .. they wanted $20 to walk the yard at one point ,if they sold you a door, they stipped every last piece off of it , trim , windows, latches , etc and just threw it in pile.. kind of thought that was silly ..
It was fun to go to the Northstar Dragstrip & look through the fence at all the cool stuff they had at CTC. Unfortunately the strip is closed now too.
