This is way overdue, I am building a 30 model "A" coupe, or I should say I a learning how to build my coupe. It starts with a great story so I think I should share it.

A couple of years ago I was working on my 48 Chrysler that was given to me from my uncle, It was my granfathers. I couldn't figure out how to flare the brakes, I had all the tools just not the knowledge (I'm a youngin, so give me a brake). My grandma told me to go down the street, she said there were some younger guys always working on hot rods and she was sure they could get me in the right direction.

I drove by real slow, they had the music up and it looked like a party, the only two guys standing outside were covered in tattoos so I just kept driving, lol

The next week I decided I wanted to check it out (no tattooed guys outside). I walked in with my brake line in my hand and simply said is there someone here that can show me how to flare this? Mike said to JD,want to help him out? He dropped what he was doing and gave me a great lesson in flaring brake lines.

They asked what I was working on and I told them, they knew the car and they knew my grandfather. they said I could come back and they are there every saturday. I am now there every saturday I have off of work.

They have not only taught me valuable car lessons, but more importantly life lessons, Jayme (one of the tattooed guys) was the pastor in my wedding, which would have been as cool without all the help from my club brothers, especially Mike and his wife Chris.

everyone always says we are family and we really are. I couldn't imagine my life without my club brothers and they all know that if they ever need anything I'm there.

So now for the Build, I was at Motorama, we left, ate diner (met unclescooby) and were on our way home. I got a phone call from Mike saying that he heard of a coupe body and if i didn't want it he was buying it. I asked my fiance and she said buy it. I said with what money and she said to use the honeymoon money we had been saving up. SHE told me, it was an "investment" my brothers have her trained.

I called the guy and said I would take it. didn't ask any questions. and Monday morning me and a couple of budddies went to Indy and picked it up. here's how she looked when I got it.

  24. It certainly sounds and looks like you've fallen in with a great bunch of folks - I do like your progress but the story of how you met up with these guys certainly has to make you chuckle whenever you think about it. The old adage, "you can't tell a book by its cover" certainly holds true with the "tattoed guys"! LOL! Good for you, I love your project - looking forward to more pics/progress ....
