Hot Rods Curbspeed Coupe. "Holy Hell" 10/4/2020

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by curbspeed, Dec 19, 2010.

  1. Couple small updates. I have worked on the car some. It's a slow process indeed. I see I started this build back in 2010. Damn. I will win one day. Here are a few of the things I've done.
Chopped the window garnish moldings for the doors. Still need to do the quarter windows. That will happen soon. I am actually a little embarrassed about how long I have taken to update this thread. Here I go again. 2. Beehive oik filter 002.JPG I detoured and detailed a full flow behive oil filter as well. Turned out good I think. Removed the material on the sides that look like a parting line. Didn't like it. Was time consuming to file every line.

  3. Built a box to house my A/C unit hidden behind the seats. Still needs some work inside. It will house the unit and on the other end it will hold the battery. Those three tubes will hopefully blow enough cool air forward between the seats . We will see about that. I didn't want it under the dash. I need A/C here in Tucson. 34 coupe pics 001.JPG

  4. Built an underdash package tray using the grille mesh from a 58 Ford. Modified my throttle pedal. 34 coupe pics 003.JPG

  5. Headlight V8 Bar 009.JPG Fabbed up a headlight bar from a Model A and some round stock. This unit will be removable with wingnuts. the studs go down through the frame. I am looking for a cool electrical disconnect for the headlight wires. Any clean good looking ideas would be great if you have them. I' m pretty happy with how it's turning out. It's been done for a while. It's just sitting and waiting. And waiting. and waiting. Damn I'm slow/lazy.

  7. Looks Ace Dale, was inspired by your recent photo's (including the rear window tray), so got off my butt and did some work on mine today, and feel better for it, so thanks for the inspiration, keep at it.
    Cheers,

Very nice, I had once ordered the HOP UP poster of the 32's on the Salt but it arrived crushed and in a bent mailing tube. I sent back for replacement and they were all gone. Believe 0nly 149 were printed.

Overall excellent craftsmanship and an inspiration for my 34.

  13. Paul, I had that chromed as you can well imagine. I wish I had you around to get this motor running when the time comes. I miss coming by your house and seeing all your cool stuff. The HopUp posters where given to me by Mark Morton. Happy to have them. Huge fan of HopUp. Waiting for my new issue. That's my real motivation.

  17. Worked on the car some again yesterday and today. Built an armrest between my airplane seats. Pictures tell the story. I like to gangster lean when I'm driving. One more item off the list. Chopping quarter window garnishes tomorrow. The more I look at this armrest, the more I dislike some of the hole placement. I gonna fix that tomorrow. Your ability to visualize and then build the vision is amazing to me. I'm one of those guys who at best can only copy what someone else has done, and rarely can I do it without some help! Can't wait to see your finished car. On a separate note, what type of a/c unit are you planning to use ?

Not even sure what brand it is. It came out of a 32 Ford sedan from Washington State. Guess he never got hot enough. I bought the whole enchilada for 100 bucks. I'll make it work. Fixed a couple of holes. Didn't like the placement of some. Just welded them up and presto. Much better. Not as busy.

I really like your style of build — lots of neat ideas you have incorporated to make it a standout coupe.

Drewfus, Here are a few pics of the rear window modifications I made. Not quite done yet. Just painted it and will assembly soon. Need to get track for glass yet. Hope it works and seals reasonably well. Good thing it hardly rains here in Tucson. You can see I had to recess the mechanism some for clearance. I ended up recessing the arm some. Since I didn't have the original piece of wood to mount the regulator to I am having to guess to get clearances. It's slowly coming together. fueltank shock brackets 001.JPG fueltank shock brackets 002.JPG fueltank shock brackets 003.JPG fueltank shock brackets 004.JPG fueltank shock brackets 005.JPG

  26. cool, thanks Dale, looks effective, I'm guessing a simple 'catch tray' underneath with a drain line rounds out the package. Other than 'bailey channel', what seal do you plan on using between the body opening and the glass?
    Cheers, and thanks again,
    Drewfus

  27. Glass should be close to body. I might put a piece of felt to keep it from rattling. No seal. That's the flaw with this rear window design really. Hence the drip tray. Hope it works. This is all new territory to me.Cheers.

  28. Handle for rear window and brake stuff 003.JPG Handle for rear window and brake stuff 001.JPG Not much going on here today. Just a little job here and there. Modified stock turn handle for the rear window and made a few adjustments. Built a pair of brake hose mounting brackets that will attach under the edge of the frame these will get chromed. I will drill and tap the frame when the body comes off and I can flip it over for final frame modifications. Before and after pics of the rear handle. Nothing earth shattering here. Just felt like posting something. This stuff will get chromed. The nickel on it was kinda scratched up anyways and I wanted this one to match the windshield crank Brake line brackets 001.JPG Brake line brackets 002.JPG Handle for rear window and brake stuff 004.JPG Handle for rear window and brake stuff 002.JPG

  30. Kinda piddly shit right now. Can't stand for too long while this foot heals up. A little each day I guess. Hope it's not too boring for you all. It's all just amusement anyways right?
