Well I sure hope you guys aren't getting tired of seeing B'ville photos. I'll try not to duplicate what has already been posted. I think taking shots on the salt has got to be my favorite. They all came out great without any effort.

Six5Monster, Dave, you ever find your shift knob?? [IMG] BTW, Thanks for introducing me to your buddy Vern, it was a real pleasure. He's a very nice man. Please tell him I said "hi". Also, I have a few shots of you and Gene Winfield chatting by your ride at the Stateline. If you'd like a CD with those and other salt photos just PM me with your snail mail addy and I'll get it in the mail.

Beatnik, he's going to kill me for posting this, I'm sure. I wore my goofy hat for one day, till I almost got choaked to death wearing it while riding a mini bike in the pits. Big floppy hat and cruzn at speed is not a good combination. [IMG]

All in all a most awesome adventure. Speed Week and HAMB Drags all in one week! Does life get any better??? Not in my world.

The first weekend in June, while on the way to the NSRA York, PA show, Big Olds turned 20,000 miles. Last Saturday, while going down the 1/4 mile at the HAMB Drags, Big Olds turned 30,000 miles!

Total mileage for our Salty/Drags adventure was 6,004 (plus 88 miles on a flatbed [IMG] )

    Denise, you rock.
It's been 3 years + since my last long rad trip. I'm itching to do it again but I've got a mortgage, a wife, two children and a job that's virtually escape proof. The longest vacation (not including an...ahem... federally mandated one) I've had in 20 years was the 10 days I took to go to VLV.
I guess when I do have the time and the money I'll be 100 years old.

yea! For sure... and home again too. [IMG]

I have one person to thank for that and that's Just Steve. He built the most awsome car a girl could ever ask for and I'm very lucky to have it now. He built it and now it's my job to maintain it (and make a few improvemnts when possible [IMG] )

Nads, yep, HUGE difference, as you know, with being single with no kids, and married with family. I made my choice a long time ago that hot rods, not children would be the focus of my life. I made the right decision for ME.

I'm glad you guys are enjoying the stories. My heads filled with 16 days of them [IMG]

Denise, Thanks for the pix again.

When I read your post, I smile at them computer screen almost as much as you. You are what hotrodding is all about, driving it and learning as you go, meeting friends that you have never met before (except online). And taking tons of pix for building memories in the future. Man, when I get in my 80's can I sit around you and listen to your story's about back in the day? insert smile here.

Damn I sure do look stupid with that hat and grin.

If I remember correctly there was a donut fest after these pictures were taken. I have a rooster tail picture of Shag's truck.
    Thanks for the flash back.

Not to piss in anyone's punch, but yeah there was a "donut fest" and shortly after that, I was hit up by 3 friends of mine who are also SCTA officials wondering who the people doing the donuts out on the virgin salt were ( actually they had a much more descriptive word for you guys ) at any rate, they were NOT, I repeat NOT happy in the least about it, seems the BLM people ran up their asses about it, and since Shag was seen hanging out @ our camp, they figured I knew y'all, I lied to em, but I've been sitting on this since it happened and figured it was time you all knew that what you guys did, was NOT cool with the SCTA, and yes, they saw all the cars @ the HAMB tent and asked me what the hell the HAMB was, why the people hanging out there thought that Bonneville was their personal playground and who they were. I quitely drank a beer and told them that you all meant no harm or disrespect and that had you known it would be frowned upon, you wouldn't have done the things you did, they were good with that ( and the free sodas and burgers ) and asked me to let y'all know that the salt is kind of like a Holy Land to some, and the way you all treated it was akin to shitting on a church. Take it how you will, I'm just the messenger.

Looks like you were all having a good time. I go when I can too and it sometimes causes a little, uh, "friction" at times with the missus..
Hey! That's Animal Aines 28-29 roadster? I see this guy all over the place but had no idear he was a poster on the HAMB....prolly on the RRT too, eh?
I got off work early one day 3 or 4 years ago to drive to Lincoln and film early arrivals for Americruise. I pulled up in a parking lot, out by the Lincoln airport, opened the back door of my 50 Chevy sedan delivery and stood in the back, leaning on the top with my video camera....waiting... and finally, here comes the first hot rod I see...Animal Ain in his orange roadster...pulls in for gas and I whipped over there and stuck up a conversation with him...very outgoing and friendly...glad I met him because he never misses Americruise and I see his car's photo in some of my brother's videos sent to me from the west coast....
    It's a small world...

Good shots, Denise. My racer duties kept me on a leash pretty much of the time but I did sneak off occasionally. Glad to have met you. Wayno

Great coverage on SpeedWeek '03 and excursions leading up to it, Denise. I was hoping to get some visiting time, but you took off after about ten words and I never saw you again.

We can't undo the event, but perhaps we can save some face. How about HAMB donations to Save The Salt.

The following is quoted from the team Vesco site
If you are so inclined, please consider making a tax-deductible donation to help finance the continuation of this project. Send your check to:

    Save the Salt, Inc.
    c/o Mike Waters
    39937 90th St. West
    Leona Valley, CA 93551

Make sure you identify yourself as a member of the HAMB.

  30. MAYBE,,,with your donation,,,those of you who were SPINNINGSALT could also APOLOGIZE,,,
    just an IDEA,,,
